This is such sad news. She has been a standard here for a long time.

I wondered about her recently when someone asked a dumb question about preserving some food or another, and she didn't chime in with accurate information and links.

She'll be greatly missed

Guess I'm getting maudlin in my old age. Everytime something like this happens my brain starts to scroll thru all of those whom I miss so much.... and that includes my sweet animals!

I'm telling yuh folks, if that plumber sends a bill .....

I do this too, Dragn. I am very sorry to hear of GG's passing.

One of the saddest parts is that GG was not that old. She and her husband were both a year younger than I am. When somebody dies in their nineties, I figure they had a pretty good ride. But, when a friend who is younger than I am dies, it hits me a bit harder.

Is that just me, or does anyone else experience that feeling?

That's not just you. That gets me even when it's some celebrity that I have no particular interest in.

Both GG and her DH were in their early 60s. While he seemed healthy, and was doing all he could to stay that way in order to take care of GG as they aged, he never knew that he had cancer growing on the exterior of his colon. Those Colonoscopies only look inside. In his last check-up before the cancer was discovered, his doc told him the metrics looked like those of a man in his 40s.

As we all know from what GG shared, she had more than her fair share of medical issues beginning in her 20s or 30s. She never let them get her down or slow her down, except when she had to be hospitalized. Still, she maintained an active life and did it well.

I've always winced a little when I find out someone younger than I has died. And more than wince when it's a family member. The older I get, the more chances I have for that happening, I guess.
