It’s that time of year! I grew up in the desert southwest so we got these. I got my wife hooked on them. Luckily I can find them now at my ethnic grocery stores. Short season.
Here; there are no food parallels I can use to describe the flavor. lightly sweet. imagine a sweet cucumber? it is full of seeds you can't chew, but you just swallow them and file them under the umbrella of "fiber".
Only used them once, and that description of a "sweet cucumber" is about as close as I could come to it. And due to those seeds, I ended up making a delicious "smoothie" with them - they disappear in the Vitamix, like with many seeded foods!
I have had them and I like them. But, they are quite expensive here in Quebec, so I don't usually buy them. They are not so wonderful that I miss them.
