All of my enamelled, cast iron cookware is supposedly seconds. My mother taught me that the inspectors are rushed, so when they sort, they let some of the firsts into the seconds rather than spend the time to make absolutely sure there are no blemishes. Any reputable company would rather have a few firsts in with the seconds than the other way around. So, when the seconds go on sale, it's time to go hunting. With a careful eye, you can find the firsts that slipped in.
