I'm still making dinner and I still can't figure out how starting dinner at 6pm turns into having dinner at 8:30, which is about the time it'll be done.

I may have created a new dish, though. I googled all over and couldn't find Alfredo scalloped potatoes with cheese sauce and bacon. I have the feeling I'm just recreating my soup from a couple days ago, but I had to use up the potatoes and this seemed the best way now that the bacon is finally thawed. Anyway, the potatoes are boiling now, the bacon will have to wait until they're done because it has to go in the same pot (I only have the one big one) and then I'm going to heat up the Alfredo sauce and melt the cheese in it (1 cup Mozzerella and 1 cup Cheddar with some Parmesan and garlic) and after everything is combined, it'll go in the oven for a while. I'm just winging it here, as you can tell.

I should've gone to Taco Bell. Yeah, I' think I'm eating soup again. One jar of Alfredo sauce wasn't enough, two were too much. I put way too much garlic in this. I like garlic, but for some reason, it's really leaving a not-so-good taste. And in boiling the potatoes first so they wouldn't be too hard, a problem I've had in the past with scalloped potatoes, now these are too soft and basically kinda mushy, which of course negates all the slicing I did on them. All points for me to remember for next time. At least it's edible, but now I see why it's not a dish on the internet. LOL

TB was working a 10 hr shift (2 days a week) so it was just me. I had the first of my new batch of chicken pot pies (individual size). I think these are better than the last ones. The pastry is really flaky - like my mom used to make it.

Did you add the garlic raw or did you saute it first? Sauteing it helps the taste,

I had some asparagus soup that I made yesterday. There are still a few servings left. I also had a ham sandwich on rugbrød (Danish style heavy rye bread). I really like that asparagus soup.

We're in Destin FL this week and eating our way along the peninsula. The restaurant on the resort property has an off season special: two dinners and a bottle of wine for $59. We had a great server who made all sorts of adjustments on upgrades, better wine, additional wine, and two desserts and totaled us out for just over $90 including tax. Pricey? Yeah, but it's not every year you celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary. Officially it's not until next week Saturday, but we started our anniversary adventure on Sunday.

Anyway, Himself had pan fried grouper topped with toasted pecans and a meunière sauce, a twice baked potato, and their house salad. Dessert was Key lime pie.

I had salad, shrimp and grits with a creamy tasso ham sauce...and a twice baked potato. 🤔 That potato came back with us, along with half of the shrimp and grits. After all, I needed room for my creme Brulee. :pig: We're both looking a little Santa-ish...and I'm not talking about the beard.
