Baked potatoes from the garden with cream cheese S&P, and mushrooms and onions/butter/S&P/lemon. Venison steaks fried up in a frying pan for the guys.
 
Souschef is playing conductor on the tourist Pumpkin Train today, so he'll bring home Gyro's from the Greek place before he heads back home.
It's too dang hot to cook today anyway.

There are calendars that list every national day is. Such as today. And who knows what tomorrow may be.

Got chicken breast thawing, thinking baked chicken nuggets. I guess that's somewhat related to Eggos.

Seven (not counting extras for Christmas Day and Boxing Day when they fall on Saturday or Sunday). Our official days are called Bank Holidays because - yes, you've guessed it - the banks are closed. (All to do with Victorian holidays for factory, mine, etc., workers.) I some parts of the country there's an traditional holiday on Good Friday but that isn't general
 
Shrimp and sausage paella, green salad on the side. Probably better described as paella inspired, as it's not very authentic. Much lighter and healthier than the paella we had in Spain.

As Addie mentioned earlier in the thread, there is some sort of recognition for something or another each day, and they have calendars to the effect.

It's just for a bit of fun; as I read somewhere, "... celebrate every day ..."

Tonight's dinner included meatloaf, baked potato and glazed carrots.

Mad cook, you've reminded me of something my dad said. When you speak to people from a different culture than yours, you should rejoice in sharing yours, and embrace theirs in your newfound knowledge.

An appropriate aphorism is that you get more flies with honey than with vinegar.

I guess it's actually Leggo my Eggo.
 
Never have Eggos in the house. We had some sort of square ones when the kids still lived at home. Goober liked to make a breakfast sandwich from two waffles and apple butter. The kid has a genius IQ, so there's no explaining it. Aldi used to carry a really good multigrain waffle in their "Fit N Active" line, but I haven't seen them for a while.

Dinner tonight was tossed salads and leftover beef-veggie soup. It's gone from the fridge, but a quart got tucked away in the freezer for a "just in case" night.
