American Grocers and Thanksgiving Day

Perhaps y'all won't be but I was a bit surprised by the list.

Grocery Chains closed for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time for family, and giving thanks for all we have. The grocery employees deserve the same consideration. If you can't plan ahead and get the groceries you need, have a frozen pizza!

Stores like Costco, Target and Walmart aren't only grocery stores, the sell more non-grocery items than they sell groceries. I wonder if that makes a difference.

The local Wegman’s is usually open until 4:00 in the afternoon.

It used to bother me that stores were open on major holidays but now I realize that picking up an extra shift is important to many people.

I’m ok either way as long as people are not forced to work in nonessential jobs.

We shop mostly at an employee owned grocery whenever possible. They are closed from 1:45 pm until 6 am the next day over Thanksgiving.
