Gluten free-Dairy free-Tree Nut free Morning Glory
Jumbo Muffins as well as Cupcake sized.
I got 6 Jumbos and 7 smaller, so DH and I split
one of the smaller ones (gotta have an even number, right?)
just to taste test it, dontcha know ;)
Not bad. DH as been going on about he doesn't understand
why some folks eat GF/DF, some have to and it doesn't taste
any different to me anyways.
I suppose now we'll need to make a batch the "standard method"

My experience working in a GF, DF commercial kitchen was that they were best same day. Everything was usually frozen once cool if not for that day.

I'm making Sabina rolls, they are for breakfast and evening meals here at home and we all love them.

Yes ma'ma CWS!
As soon those little puppies were cooled down, in to the deep freeze they went.
I laid some parchment paper down on a sheet pan and they stayed in the freezer overnight. In the morning they all went into a zip top bag with most of the air squeezed out. I'll "taste test" one in a week or so to make sure they're good to go for later in March ;)
I already have a coupla Rum Cake in the deep freeze... which DH is none too happy about ... "Why can't we EAT those? Food is meant to be eaten!!"
Nope! Sorry buddy. :)

Kaneohegirlinaz I enjoy seeing your bake sale stuff and thank you for sharing the pictures.

I made a lemon meringue pie for DH but I will have to have one mouthful! DS and DH will demolish it.

I felt so bad!
I've been doing all of this baking and canning
for our new community's Craft & Bake sale...
but it ALL gets bagged up and frozen, poor DH
hangs his lip as he watches me do this.
DH : Can I have one?
Moi : NOPE! This is for the sale.
:(
So, I made a batch of Morning Glory-fied Muffins
just for him!
I put in quite alot of stuff : crushed Pineapple, Craisins,
shredded Apples, Coconut & Carrots, ground ginger&cinnamon,
and three tablespoons of Molasses for more, UMPH!
I think they're pretty good
(first try, other than the GF/DF/Nutfree I made the other day)
DH had one with his late afternoon cuppa joe ...
DH : Heh! You should sell these too!
Moi : I already made GF muffins
DH : oh, well these are dang good then!!

Sounds good, Ross. I hope the stores have good peaches this summer. I've wanted a fresh peach pie for a couple of years, but good fresh peaches are hard to come by. :(

I baked a loaf of caraway rye bread to go with tonight's soup. It was a good decision. :yum:

I made a batch of Sally Lunn bread on Friday. Decided to split the batter up between two of my loaf pans rather than bake it in the bundt pan. Seems to be drier in loaf style, and not as good for sandwiches as I had hoped. Still tasty for breakfast toast, though.

Made cornbread to serve up with tonight's soup and salads. I also made a loaf of country white bread at the same time. Just like having kids, two buns in the same oven. And, like my kids, they aren't identical!

I don't see any Hatch chilies in there, Beth! Do you still have a freezer full?

Thanks for asking, chiles are on my mind a lot!

I bought ten 25 pound boxes of roasted green chiles last fall and kept some records of what I did with them. I froze around 65 quart bags of whole roasted green chiles and now have 22 quarts left in the freezer. What I find I like best are the chiles I canned in pint jars. I canned 45 pints of green chile sauce and 39 pints of green chiles.

No I did not put any in the cornbread yesterday. For the soup, I opened a pint jar of the chiles, swished a knife around in the jar to cut up the soft chiles and added the entire contents to the soup.

The big news is I have ordered my own chile roaster from this guy.

Products – Sonoran Chile Roasters

For the past several years I have grown a dozen green chile plants and was not interested in growing any more because I did not want to fool with roasting them at home. I would use them like bell peppers and give the rest away. With my own chile roaster I plan on greatly expanding my green chile crop. Here's some photos of last years green chile project.

Wow, so cool. I wish I had the energy to do more canning. We did buy a stand-up freezer last summer, so I can preserve that way and do different things with the produce more slowly. I'm thinking about getting an electric canner this year.

I made a Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" Cake yesterday
and the frosting that accompanies it.
I only wanted to make a two layer cake and have both
8 and 9inch pans... went with the 8" and a dozen cupcakes for
DH (y'know, so he doesn't whine too much..."HEH! Where's mine!")

I didn't do the best job decorating the cake (its for this sweet kid in our neighborhood who's turning 13, she has Cancer, so I do different things to make her smile)...
My Mother gave me this
DSC06943.JPG
it has a screw top and a squeezie ball thing that you fill with the icing ...
Sssshhhh
don't tell Mom but it stinks!!!
I switched off to my TNT method of a ziptop baggie with the tip inserted into a clipped corner of the bag.
