I am so glad I read this thread because today on the Simpsons Homer mentioned him and we had no idea of who he was!

hmm.. we don't know this over here - thank god, not everything finds its way over the ocean - but it sounds as if he found his way to earn his income..
he seems to bridge a gap in the market and people want his stuff, because it's easy to handle and cheap.
As well as many people have no idea about "real" cooking they may consider it to be good?

ahhh..that was an absolute classic!! the quote was (homer to marge) "Aww...Bart gets to do that... but I dont get to spend one night lurking in the bushes outside Chef Boyardees house?!?"
