For sure! I did that last year - that was my New Year resolution, and I removed everything from my freezer, inventoried it, so everything is in the notebook, by which shelf it is on (or the door), and when I put anything new in, or remove anything, I put it in (or remove it from) the book. This continued into my pantry, where I inventoried everything, and have kept it that way for over a year now - the longest I have ever done that! It's amazing how much time I have saved, looking for all those things I get - I probably have already recovered all the time I spent, doing the organizing. Plus, I know what is left, when I think I'm getting low on something - not always happening!

Agreed!

I have spent the first half of March in not-so-voluntary isolation. I neglected to get my flu shot this year, and got the flu. That morphed into pneumonia. I had to stay home, to protect other people.

It sucks!

Now, food was not an issue. Since I have a well stocked freezer, I had plenty of meats. I also had a good supply of rice, pasta and beans -- things i always keep well stocked. Produce was more challenging. But, before the nation lost its collective mind and started hoarding, I could go to the Walmart Supercenter at 2AM, do some shopping, and not expose anyone to my coodies. That ended sometime last week, I think (the days all run together).

The flu is gone, but the pneumonia (at least the symptoms) are putting up a fight. So, I'm still keeping my public appearances to a minimum.

If you generally keep a well stocked freezer, you will have the foundation for a pretty decent menu. If you have rice, pasta and beans, you can stretch your meats for multiple meals.

Day 5

WOW!
We made it pretty far without any trips to the supermarket!

Breakfast

In Hawaii, we don't normally eat a regulation
"Western" breakfast... DH wasn't hungry
so I had a bowl of leftover Stew and Rice :yum:

IMG_5624.jpg

Lunch

I was luck to get a shot!!
Hot Roast Beef, sliced from the deli a ways back,
with melted Sharp Provolone Cheese, Hot Cherry
Peppers all on a Ciabatta Roll.
Sides of Kettle Chips and Coca-Cola, YUM!!

IMG_5626.jpg

Dinner

Again, luck to get a photo-op before
DH devoured it!
:ROFLMAO:
Leftover grilled Flank Steak morphed it's
way into Carne Asada Tacos

MAN!
Them's some good eats, let me tell you buddy!

I did sharp provolone with hot cherry peppers and prosciutto dipped in olive oil recently and loved it! Worth trying if you’ve never had before :)

Day Six!

We've had Wintery-Mix since very early this morning,
it's dark, it's cold, it's dreary
BLAH!

IMG_5629.jpg

Breakfast

DH slept in and wasn't in the mood for any sort
of Breakfast, again, so I finished off the last
of the Local-Style Beef Stew ala Chef Keoni
from Foodland
:yum:
ONO! (that's delicious in Hawaiian;))

IMG_5631.jpg

Lunch

By the time Noon rolled around,
DH was starving!
So I cooked some thick Spaghetti
and warmed up the last of that
Pork Ragu (I still have 4 servings in the deep freeze)
I made for Sunday Supper.
I asked DH, who's wife makes them
Pasta for lunch?
"Tony Soprano, that's who!"

IMG_5632.jpg

Dinner

I wasn't in the mood to really cook anything,
so I simply warmed some steamed White Rice
and a boil-in-bag of Zippy's Chili from back home,
aka Honolulu. I brought back a bunch of the
stuff, frozen, in my suitcase:)
Add some chopped Sweet Onions and Diamond Bakery
Soda Crackers
, also from Hawaii via my suitcase...
THAT'S comfort for us!

I'm stuffed :pig:

*Post script: AGAIN DH keeps looking the in `fridge,
freaking out that we're running out of food!

Moi: Have you looked in the BOTH of the freezers yet?
DH: No
(as I whip open in the indoor one)
Moi: LOOK! See all of these frozen vegetables ...
(as I throw open the kitchen pantry door)
Moi: LOOK! Do you see all of this?
(As I grab him by the hand and gently, yet firmly, guide him to the garage)
Moi: LOOK! Do you see my inventory of what's in the Deep Freeze?
(As I yank open my dry storage cabinets)
Moi: LOOK! Do you see all of this food?
DH: WOW! I know I've teased you in the past that you have too much stuff, this is a good thing. I see this now. Look at all of this pasta and Rice and ...
You can make up all sorts of dishes, can't you with all of this?
Moi: Yup

One Entire Week!!!

Day 7

We almost got lured out and about by DH's Buddy, Mister Dear Friend,
good try there son, but fat chance! We're stayin' put!

Breakfast

I've been wanting to try this ever since I saw CG post that she
smashed some de-frosted Tater Tots to stand in for Hash Browns.

IMG_5648.jpg

IMG_5654.jpg

Lunch

I've been hankerin' for some (more) local-style foods.

IMG_5595.jpg

I still had that half of a can of Portuguese Sausage Seasoning
SPAM®, GLORIOUS SPAM®!!! after making Fried Rice the other day.
I brought this can back in my suitcase from Honolulu last May,
MMM!
I also had a fresh pot of steamed White Rice,
some Nori, Furikake and then I made a quick Teriyaki Sauce.
Assemble, wrap in Plastic Wrap, wait at least 10-15 minutes
and devour!!!

Dinner

The oven is still heating up, but we're having Homemade Pizza.
I make my own dough, sauce, but not the cheese :D
I buy those balls of Whole Milk Mozzarella and shred it myself.
So a repeat from a few nights ago.

DH and I have decided that we're not going to be around folks for a bit, what with all the craziness going in this MAD MAD WORLD right now.

My larder is well stocked...
I made one last grocery run on Wednesday - we were down to a quart of milk and in this house, that don't fly. So Himself and I will be following your lead. Let's see if this grocery-shopping old geezer can stay put for two weeks without going out to hunt down sales. Only 13 more days to go...

Oh your post said “hot cherry peppers” so I thought u had them but sliced them up lol. Misunderstood :)

That's right, I have a jar of sliced Hot Cherry Peppers from Southern AZ,
and now I'd wished that I'd look for the wholes as well.
Funny, where we use to live, I could fins much more of the
ingredients that we're use to, but not so much here in Northern Arizona,
aka Cowboyville

When ever we go to California, Hawaii or Southern Arizona, I have my
list of things to bring back. When we were in Florida for a good part
of October, I tried to find Hot Cherry Peppers to no avail!!!
Our Niece said that she'd looked every where around their area, but none.
So I guess I will add have both sliced and whole peppers to my running
"To Bring Back" list

We still have Milk, it's the Half `N Half for DH's Coffee
obsession that I worry about!
It can't be Powdered Creamer, but full fat!

I did notice that our local Kroger Food Store does offer Curb-Side
Pick Up Online orders!!!
Have no idea why I just clued into this one :ROFLMAO:
When the need does arise, that's what I'll do.
But for now, we're still doing good.
Our Community has a closed Social Media Site and I see
many folks utilizing that service, I'll look into it.

Day Eight

FINALLY!! We have Blue Skies, albeit still cold outside;
it's pretty looking out the back as
we sit in our warm and comfy living room
We got just about an inch of snow last evening,
but it's mostly gone this morning.

So let's start the day out right, with ...

egg-on-stuffing.jpg

Breakfast

DH requested Cold Leftover Pizza from last night's supper
and
I found my last Stuffin' Muffin in the freezer, so I
basted one of my precious 22 Eggs I have left,
placed it gingerly atop a warmed mound of
Portuguese Sausage (Linguisa) & Herb Stuffing
and indulged!
We were both very happy

Lunch

Well, there was no lunch today, oddly enough, neither of
us were very hungry.

soup and sammie supper.jpg

Dinner

We concluded that we'd have an early Dinner and watch a movie later.
So I found some Lentil & Veg Soup in the Deep Freeze and made us each
a Sandwich to go along side.

Eat What You Have!

Posted a picture yesterday of my ordinary egg-scramble in the Breakfast thread.
Just had a smoothie for lunch and leftover pea soup with whole wheat croutons for an early dinner.

I'm not as worried about rationing my 1½ dozen eggs as K-girl because there's only one of me and I've got most of #10 can of powdered to use up.

FedEx is delivering my first shipment of fresh produce from Misfits Market today.

 WOW! SL, you've got powdered Eggs too? All of that sort of food was long gone and I haven't seen anywhere re-stocking it.
We had scrambled Eggs the other morning and I had a dozen Egg Whites that I pulled out of the deep freeze to stretch them a bit,

sshhhh.jpg

don't tell DH, he claims to not like this adding 1:1 whole Egg to White

... Voluntary Self-Containment

... and now I see it has ANOTHER name to it
Self-Isolation

I like Containment better

'containment
[kənˈtānmənt]
NOUN
the action of keeping something harmful under control or within limits.
"the containment of the epidemic"
the action or policy of preventing the expansion of a hostile country or influence.
"a policy of containment" '

Day Nine

Yesterday, I made some Bran and Nut Muffins
with the knowledge that Mister Dear Friend was
coming over for coffee... Missus DF 86'd that one!

IMG_5659.jpg

steamed some frozen Corn Off The Cob
and grilled two B/S Chicken Thighs

MAN!!!
:yum:
