Sodastream gas container. Is it dangerous if falls on the floor?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that enjoys cooking.

I doubt very much if dropping it to the floor will let the gas out nor blow it up.
Hitting it with a heavy axe will definitely let out the gas and might send one side flying but blow up like a bomb - no, highly doubt it.

mind you, buy reputable cans, not rusty, dented ones being sold "under the table" for a good price.

In the olden days, when you dropped something like a hair dryer, you had to immediately discard it. It's not like that anymore.

No. We used to leave them in the car. They would roll around and clang together, and were in the heat in South Florida.

It contains compressed carbon dioxide gas, so if you drop it just the right way with enough force, the top will shear off and it will shoot around the room like a bottle rocket. Be sure to duck!

Even SCUBA tanks don't do that anymore and they are filled to a FAR greater pressure than SodaStream bottles.

Since my husband worked in the diving business, including saturation diving, and then in designing, building, installing, and maintaining the machines that fill tanks, and recreationally dived for 40+ years, along with me for 25+ years, I kind of think we know what we're talking about...

Any kind of cylinder tank that holds pressurized gas has to be inspected on a regular basis, including the stem connection, for wear and tear.
