I would love something new to do this year. I am going to do the traditional beer butt chickens and also, for a change, a smoked pork butt. With that, of course, means making homemade bbq sauce, 2 kinds, and slaw.

I think 'll do with this:

grilled, marinated veggies for appetizers (red peppers, asparagus, sliced portobello, zucchini
Tabbouleh
my mom's macaroni salad

I'm trying not to cook as much as I normally do - we'll see.........:chef:

think we are just going to do some burgers ..
we have a big birthday party the following sunday ..
with alot of people coming over ..

Had burgers on the grill slated for the Fourth but, when I took this morning's bacon out of the freezer, a nice big chicken was calling to me. It kept saying, "Beer butt chicken, beer butt chicken..." Guess that's the route we'll take along with you k'elf. Might make some macaroni and cheese to go with. Not sure what else. Gotta have something sweet. After making ice cream with my brother last weekend, I think I'm in the mind for some more homemade ice cream. Buck would love that.

We may be driving to Connecticut to a casino on the 4th. However, since I have the weekend off from caring for my grandson, I'm cooking. Pulled pork, bbq sauce, chili and cornbread, and some bean dishes.

DH and myself are leaving for the lake, (for 2 wks.) about 90 mi. away Tues., where our 5th wheel stays. Thinking of making a slab of ribs, corn on the cob, grilled taters, and some crusty bread.

My favorites here, brisket, baby back ribs, BBQ sauce, potato salad, red beans. If everyone is nice to me than maybe some cornbread.

At the restaurant, we've been making more beef tenderloin and ribeye scrap than we can use efficiently, so the sous chef ground it all up and turned them into about 70 burgers, and decided to host 4th of July. The staff has been eating these burgers as well, and they might just be the juciest and most naturally flavorful burgers I've ever eaten. How can you beat ribeye and tenderloin burgers?

It's up to the staff to supply side dishes and the like, and BYOB.

We usually wait until the last minute to decide what we feel like, since it's just going to be hubby & myself, but one thing I did buy today because they were so darn cute was a mesh sack of "Frieda's" brand "Red, White, & Blue Spuds".

Now normally I don't fall into the trap of food schtick, but this mixed bag of baby Yukon Gold, Red Russet, & Peruvian Blue potatoes was impossible to resist. They were small, fresh, & firm, & I'm thinking will make a mighty good - if not impossibly cute - July 4th potato salad - lol!!!

(I was going to wear mine to a bbq. )

Maybe ribs & boigas? Whatever falls out of the freezer.

I'm not sure what I'll be making for the 4th. But, rest assured, I know that I will be helping to feed around 1,000 people.

if the weather permits, we may be going on a ferry into ny harbor to watch the fireworks. so, we'll probably grab a bite in hoboken before boarding the ferry.

I had planned on ribs, etc, etc. However I am going to Andy's:ermm:
I plan on being there mid-morning! Oh Andy, don't bother going to the Casino, ya can just give me the $200.00 bucks!

Have fun and Enjoy!

LOL Uncle Bob. I've often said I shouldn't bother to drive to the casino, just mail them a check and save he gas.

Kim's decided to fire up the smoker and do a turkey, baby back ribs, and a couple of pork butts. We'll then divide the extra meat up for the freezer.

I'm not sure what I'm going to fix to go with the meat yet, except my homemade BBQ sauce.

Good luck at the casino, Andy. We have one down at Metropolis, but I'm too stingy to gamble. I save my money for beer. LOL!

I’m going with the traditional pork shoulder on the smoker, potatoes salad, baked beans, and cole slaw. Maybe some corn on the cob too. Too much food for just the DW and I, but the left overs are great and will come in handy for the long weekend!

Oh, and I’ve also go to do some beef ribs per my DW’s request.

Well on the night of the 3rd, we are having supper at my DH's parents. Not sure what she is makign. ON the afternoon of the 4th, we are spending a few hours at my dads house. I believe he is making hamburgers and hotdogs and some sides. The following Saturday, my brother is having a late fourth of july party combo birthday party for his 7 year old daughter. I'm making potatoe salad for that party. In addition, I might make pumpernicle dip served inside the pumpernickel bread and possibly some ice tea. We'll see as the week unfolds. But I'm definetely making potatoe salad for the party next Saturday

We're going to a party so I'll be fixing a side dish.....more than likely my black bean salad/salsa cause thats what everyone always requests me bring.

I had almost decided not to cook, since we are going to the farm that afternoon, but dd called and wants to have a cookout at noon. She is bringing everything except potato salad and dessert, so I won't be put out with leftovers. They will take it all home. I get to see my mom and my son and his family, some really good friends, then bring 2 of our grandaughters home with us for a few days. Life is good!
