Salmon Burger Recipes. Any ideas?

I want to make salmon burgers but want it to be kind of simple. Cooked Salmon, bread crumb, maybe salt and pepper. Then from there I can experiment with flavors. Online the recipes look complex. I have never bought capers in my life, and other less used ingredients.
 
Not sure why it is too complicated. Eggs, l/o mashed potato; or mayo to bind, bread crumbs to absorb any excess liquid, seasonings, optional chopped celery or onions. Make your patties, refrigerate for minimum 20 minutes but better longer, fry'em up!
If you want you can even bread them (dip in egg (tricky), coat panko) and fry away.
What ever seasonings strike your fancy - Old Bay or Seasoning Salt or whatever, Worcestershire Sauce or not, little lemon squirt.
Bob's your Uncle! done. Make ahead and refrigerate is almost essential, helps it stay together. Plus it is very convenient to just open the fridge and grab your protein for the pan with no fussing about with the prep.
 
You want to use cooked salmon to make salmon burgers? Is there a reason not to use raw salmon? Hamburgers aren't made with cooked beef.

Those are the operative words - fall apart. And that's exactly what cooked/canned salmon does. But I still use it for making salmon patties. However, if you're talking actual 'burgers' that you're wanting to grill and use on a sandwich, I would definitely go with raw salmon, very coarsely chopped. Then you can add your other ingredients and form them into patties.

But I'm no real expert on the salmon burger thing, so I would look up different recipes on the internet to get some ideas.

As for capers, that's a personal preference, as far as I'm concerned. I can't stand them, so I would never use them in something like that. Well, in anything.
 
My late DH didn't like capers by themselves, but he still liked them in stuff. He disliked olives even more and always used them, well chopped up, when he made spaghetti sauce.
 
Salmon patties are not good fare for a grill. Whether or not you use canned, cooked or raw - it will fall apart and fall thru the grill.
They are delicate, maybe slightly stronger but still the same as crab cakes.
