It’s time again for another road trip for DH & I.
We’ll be heading out in a few weeks,
with our GPS programmed, coolers filled with snacks
and lunch makings, a case of water and wine,
and tunes downloaded to the phone (we also have XM-Sirius radio).

So I’d love to get some suggestions from y’all on not only places to eat but also sight-seeing locales.

We’ve never been to the Lake Tahoe area, but have talked about going there for at least 10 years now.

As some of you may remember, we are history buffs and have our NP Senior Pass!

The Vegas area we’ve been to a ga-gillion times, me, I’ve been going there to visit with family for as long as I can remember…
I really hope that we’ll be able to get some of our “local food” – aka foods from Hawaii – as well as some supplies too. I’ve got Ranch 99 and the International Marketplace on my radar sites.

Hey, coming my way! When was the last time you came to Sin City? There are several Asian markets in town besides Ranch 99. Most of them are Korean. There are a about a million Asian restaurants that have sprung up in our Chinatown district, I suggest Yelp to help you decide which, if any of them, you’d like to visit. Sushi of course, and AYCE Korean BBQ, and hot pot restaurants, There’s a conveyer belt sushi place, too. Haven’t had the chance to visit it yet, but it has good reviews. Lots going on in the Arts district too. On the Strip, the Cosmopolitan is the place to be. Several great dining options there, including a pizzeria that’s hard to find, but is raved about.

Non-culinary stuff: the “High Roller.” An enormous Ferris wheel that offers unparalleled views of the city, and gondolas where you can enjoy a cocktail while you marvel at the lights. Springs Preserve is a great place to learn about, and see, local flora and fauna. The Atomic Test Museum, I hear, is fascinating.

Sure would love to go to lunch or dinner with you! I haven’t been “out” in dogs’ years! There’s a very good Cajun/Creole restaurant off strip, The Rhythm Kitchen, that I haven’t been to in quite a while, or my fave Italian place, Nora’s. There are several exceptional Chinese restaurants as well. And of course, the buffets at the Strip hotels have gone over the top, both in quality and in price.

It’d be great if we could hook up!

When I was in Vegas in July, I was working in the Asian part of town. Tons of restaurants, but I didn't know anything about them (and didn't have time to check them out). Last year when I was at the SEMA show, we found a really good Korean BBQ place in a strip mall across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel/Casino on Paradise Road. Their were about ten of us, and we had a real KBBQ feast.

There is a very good, although pricey, Chineese restaurant in Caesar's Palace called Mr. Chow. It is also hard to find. You will also need reservations. TireRack took us to dinner there, and picked up the tab.

We have a Ranch 99 here, but I have not been to it. It is a chain, so it is hard to know what to expect.

I stayed at Bally's in July, and could see the High Roller from my room. From what I understand, it is great, but takes a LONG time to go around.

There is good Italian food in Vegas, but I have not found good Cajun food outside of Cajun country -- or my own kitchen. :chef:

I've only been to Lake Tahoe once. I went there with a couple of friends/co-workers on the way back from a trade show in Vegas. We went there to Ski. I made a wrong turn on the back side of Squaw Valley and had a big-time yard sale. I came home with a broken hand. :(
