Baked a small cake for later..

Great big, what's in the fridge salad.
Romaine, kale, tomato, pickles, wheat berries, pinto beans, caramelized sweet potato chunks, cooked onion, raw mushrooms, green pepper with a french no oil dressing.

Dinner salad again. This time with Trader Joe's blue cheese crumbles and a hard boiled egg added.

And 3 HUGE strawberries (from Trader Joe's also)

Tonight's dinner will be beef and cheese cannelloni, house salad. Had I known that today is King Kamehameha Day I would have planned something else. I did have some pineapple for breakfast, though.

HOA! Braddah tenspeed, big mahalos for posting this!
Kamehameha Day is a huge deal in Hawaii; one year
we're going to stay longer and participate.
Kamehameha Schools is my Alma Mater, 13 years I attended and
am grateful everyday for the education that was afforded me
because of his family's generosity to children of Hawaiian descent...
OH! Dinner, yes
I wish we here back home having this:
DSC00109.jpg
[we shared, Pork Laulau, Kalua Pig, Lomi Lomi Salmon, Rice,
Okinawan Sweet Potato, Pipikaula, Squid Luau, Poi and in the middle there,
Opihi]

But instead I have all of the components of a Somen Salad
ready to go, I excited! We haven't this in years!

Most ONO ( that's delicious in Hawaiian )

Delicious meal tonight, but sorry no pictures.

Grilled swordfish steaks with Chimichurri sauce on the side.
Loaded baked potatoes with fresh garden chives.
Leftover Ratatouille
Vine ripe tomato (2nd of the season) cut into wedges and dressed with balsamic and special reserve olive oil.
I even made a fresh peach cobbler for dessert later with ice cream.

Beautiful pics, everyone! :yum:

I had another 'nibble' tray this afternoon. I love having an assortment of foods that I don't have to cook on these warm summer days, plus, it doesn't mess up the kitchen. I'll probably actually cook something tomorrow.

A good sized handful of fresh picked cherry tomatoes from my little patio garden, chilled marinated asparagus, the last few slices of smoked salmon, roasted red pepper hummus with pita chips, and a couple of fresh figs that my neighbor brought me this morning. :yum:

Strawberry ice cream for a little later.

K Girl, I can well understand your love of your birthplace. For the one year I lived there I fell in love with the harmony of their music. I kept track of wherever the Boy Choir was giving a concert and singing. You can bet I manage to get to just about every performance they sang at. Music is my first passion in life. And when I hear perfection, I just have to listen to it. But it always bothered me when I would see some blonde hair, blue eyed kid singing or dancing the traditional music and dance of Hawaii. They just seemed so out of place. I would always asked myself silently. "Yeah, but can they climb a coconut tree like a true native can?"

I would love to see you post a reply in your Native Tongue with the translation following. Just giving us the names of the foods you make for you and hubby is not enough. Let the rest of us have a taste of Hawaii other than food. I wonder just how many of us would be able to pronounce the words. Most of us do not know the rules on your native language.

One time I asked someone to tell my how to pronounce a word. "Easy, just pronounce every letter."
