No clear indication what one of those are here in Canada. Sawz-all? This hole will be 40 mm x 40 mm.

Ah I'm out of my mind. Or...a drunken birthday weekend. The holes are small for the screws...which I can handle...and the fan hole, I should measure.

I'm hoping a Dremel will somehow do it.

Some call them jig saws. I sawzall will do, just won't be as easy to handle as a saber saw.[attachment=0:atbkkqfn]sabersaw.jpg[/attachment:atbkkqfn]

Since it was a nice day and I figured I would paint the lid of the drum with the same high heat paint so it'll be the same color as the drum. I am taking the "ugly" out of my UDS. hahahahaa

Here's a pic with the BGE vent installed and sealed up with the red high temp silicone...

Well I got the drum finished and coated the inside with crisco... Here's a final pic...

I went to dinner with the family and then decided to check my mail... I was shocked to see the Tel-Tru thermometer in there since I ordered it Thursday.

I have the drum fired up and seasoning right now... I put a good layer of charcoal in the basket and then added some large chunks of hickory that I had laying around... The lid doesn't seal all that well and I can see smoke coming out of the edges... I may have to make a seal of sorts if it becomes and issue... Tomorrow I'll drill the hole for the Tel-Tru, but for now I have my BGE thermometer from my Weber on there.

I'm making a stuffed fattie tonight to throw on there tomorrow... This will be my first fattie...

Got the seasoning done last night... Man this thing held 250 dead on for over 4 hours without having to touch the vent. Then I went to bed and just let it keep burning...

This morning I got up and installed the Tel-Tru thermometer... Got things going and threw my first fattie on there. Its stuffed with cream cheese, onions, orange peppers, and garlic... I'm taking it over to my Moms house as a appetizer for dinner. Hope it comes out ok...

Where did you purchase the vent and how much did it run you?

The vent cost about $40 with tax... I found a local BGE dealer from the BGE website and called most of them till I found a fireplace/grill store that had them in stock. I'm glad that I went that route... I like the look and it works really well with getting my temps set/stable. I dont have any experience with the holes or valves that most people do.

It sure looks lonesome on there! Should have done a few of them. You can shrink wrap them and freeze them also!

Thats a good idea... and I did buy my foodsaver for my BBQ. Hahahahaa...

Im debating on what I want to throw on there this weekend... I have a boston butt in the freezer and leg quarters are on sale this week. hmmmmm... I ordered some new rub from TexasBBQRub. Hope it gets here by the weekend. I'm trying there "wild" rub this time. I have already used there original blend and brisket rub. Hoping to try making my own soon... Just need to find a good base recipe.
