Rule of thumb?

Hey all.......

This is a phrase that just .......well.......irks me.

The 'rule of thumb' phrase comes to us from 'way back when' when it was legal for a husband to beat his wife and children. With a switch that was no bigger than his thumb. And looking at my thumb [being a gal an all] that's pretty thick and able to do some REAL damage. So think about that 'rule' the next time you use that phrase. Just hadta share that tidbit of info!

That's exactly why I don't use that phrase! Buncha freakin' cavemen 'way back when.'

I wish somebody would have tried to use the "rule of thumb" on me. I would have stuck it where the sun does not shine.
