Help with slow cooker

Hi everyone just joined this forum and looking for some help.I have decided to make a casserole using a slow cooker but my girlfriend is out at the moment and i do not know which part to put the water in the stainless steel part or the pot or both could someone please advise me.Thank you Vincent

Don't put any water or food in the metal part...EVER. All the liquids and foods should go in the crock or ceramic part.

May I know what is the reason behind why we should never put any foo or water in the metal part? Thanks!!

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe it is to prevent electrocuting yourself or starting an electrical fire.
