Basmati vs Jasmine rice

Wasn't it Seals and Crofts who said, "Summer breeze makes me feel nice, blowing through the jasmine in my rice."

Don't really have a favorite and I find that specific rice's work well for their intended cuisines/cultures and although they could be interchangeable, in that context, I've seen no good reason to do that, although on occasion I will simply because of availability.
