Sauce? Marinade? Rub?
don't think Truffle Oil fits any of those - it is just flavoured Olive Oil. So after the discussion in another thread - at the grocers' today and looked for and found this. Is it the same brand I had before? Don't think so.
Anyhow - this is Italian, ingredient list actually says both truffle aroma and black truffle and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Just the 3 things.
Made in Italy for Fazuzzi in Montreal, PQ.
Will drizzle some on my duck egg tomorrow. Was going to make Potato Salad but think I might do mashed - just so I can add the oil,.

What am I going to have it on? Haven't got the foggiest idea. Perhaps seeing as I don't care for fish eggs maybe I'll dab a bit on top of some sushi, or just some crackers and cheese? or a tiny smear on scrambled eggs? or fancy up some hard boiled eggs or deviled eggs?

Truffle oil is usually used as a finishing oil, to drizzle on top of a dish just before serving.

Some truffle oils actually have (or had) truffle in them to infuse the flavor. Most however, are just chemically flavored to emulate the flavor of truffle. People either love it or hate it.
