This recipe came out of a book called Tidewater On The Halfshell -

Best Ever Butter Cookies

1/2 pound butter, softened
3/4 cup cornstarch, sifted
1/3 cup confectioners sugar, sifted
1 cup flour

Icing
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla

Method
Preheat oven to 350°
Mix all ingredients well. Batter will be stiff. Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes.

Mix cream cheese and sugar; add vanilla. Frost tops of cookies while still warm. Cookies are very fragile so frost and handle carefully.

They sound delicious kitchenelf! I have a week off work for Christmas, and lots of time to bake, so I think there shall be a batch of these in the house before the week is out! They sound very much like the melting moments my grandmother used to make very occasionally. She was a brilliant baker, but didn't enjoy it!
