I can put my hand up for that one as well. I manage to recover the dish. We once "set" the timer to roast a duck while we were at church. Came back to a slightly smoky house and a duck with a very crispy outside. It had been cooking for about 4 hours. Not to bad though once the skin was stripped...

We used to a dog that was a cross between a doberman & a labrador. He looked like a doberman but had the lab nature - great for the house security and safe at the same time.

Pear version of Eves Pudding. Peel and chunk your pears. Cook them in a little water until just going soft. Put in an oven proof pudding dish and sprinkle with a little sugar & spice. Cover with a sponge batter and bake until the cake is ready.

Eves pudding comes to mind or apple cake.

If you post the recipe, we may be give more directed help. There are some recipes that are published that appear never to have been tested. A stew normally needs long slow cooking to develop the tenderness.

It does sound possible defective. However looking at slow cooker recipe, a dish on high is usually done in around 4hrs. I have an auto function which switches between low & high, or I bring it to bubbling on high & then turn it down low for the remainder.
