Wednesday, May 15th - make anything good?

I made some freezer dump chili. Ground beef from the freezer and spices from the pantry. Served it with some Minute Rice microwave rice. Yeah, not a whole lot of effort put into that meal. I got a little heavy handed with my homemade chili powder. I guess I forgot how potent it was. I put some...

Movies that really etched themselves into your mind...

Blazing Saddles is a great movie, that could not be made today. People would call it "racist," when in truth, it was a big poke in the eye to racism, and racists. Comedy and satire are fantastic tools for changing people's minds about things they never gave much thought to before. Mel Brooks is...

What are your guilty pleasures... Fess up

Ah, Bond movies are one of my guilty pleasures, for sure. Yes, it is shallow, and very sexist, but I can't resit. Dog... Caseydog.

What are your guilty pleasures... Fess up

Twenty something years ago, I bought the computer game MYST. I got obsessed with that game. Once I solved it, I never bought another video game. I have zero interest in games like Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty. Don't get me wrong, I do occasionally enjoy an action/adventure movie with...

Movies that really etched themselves into your mind...

This restaurant story intrigues me. I have not watched it... yet. I think it will be along the lines of what this thread is about. Honestly, I forgot about it, but when the right mood strikes me, I think I need to watch it. CD

    Today's harvest

My herb garden is a year round thing. I move the basil indoors, onto my kitchen window sill. The oregano, thyme and rosemary do fine in the winter. Christmas Day in Texas could be heavy coats and wool hats, or it could be shorts and a t-shirt. We never know until it gets here. CD

It looks like an absolutely lovely movie, but I'm thinking it will not make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. If you like that movie, you will probably like this one... CD

    Garden 2024

The rain will do the trick. She'' forget about the rat in a day or two. She'll go back to chasing squirrels (that she will never catch). If she deserves a treat, then I should get one, too. She sniffed it out, but I was the one who dispatched it. Like you, I have no problem with wildlife...

    Garden 2024

I took mom's dog out at 8AM, and spotted a rat in my herb garden. Then the dog saw it. She's been obsessed with that $%@# rat all day. She was hyper focused on this one place on the fence line, and even started to dig under the fence, tearing up my herb garden. So I finally went next door. Her...

I grew up in cajun country, and my only criticism is that you didn't put nearly enough gumbo in that bowl. CD

I never watched Tombstone. A college classmate of mine was in it... he owes me fifty bucks from 1984. Well, I have watched the scene in Tombstone where he gets killed. ;) CD

How do they put photos on cakes?

I've been a professional photographer for 40 years, and have absolutely no idea how they put photos on cakes. I know what the OP is talking about, and have seen them, but I am 100-percent clueless about how thay do it. CD
