I have bought a wok and the texture looks nothing like anything I can find online. What material is this?

Welcome to the forum!

I can't tell from the photo, either. If they said it was a non-stick wok, it can be a number of things, and if it's carbon-steel, it's the classic type, used on high heat, for stir-fry, and that type of cooking. Those with have a coating on them when new, to prevent rust, which has to be removed, though that photo doesn't look like that type. You're saying there's a "texture", which makes me think it's one of a NS type, like I've seen on skillets.

My guess is that it has a non-stick coating. But, it's really hard to tell from a picture. Does it say anything on the bottom?

I didn't even think of the cast iron, since mine is much thicker, but that would explain the "texture", and the appearance. Maybe they make thinner ones, like they do with CI skillets?
