The first recorded published narrative titled 'The Story of the Three Bears'
is credited to Robert Southey in 1837. Originally, the character in the story was an old woman until 1849 when it was changed to a young girl. Early in the 20th century, Goldilocks became the final choice for the name of the little blonde girl.
