Innovation in the kitchen is a big part of cooking. :chef:

While I wouldn't be tempted to use onions instead of garlic for a recipe such as, "Chicken with Forty Cloves of Garlic", I think its fine and fun to change things around now and then.

Let your tastebuds lead you. :yum:

I always have fresh garlic at the ready year round. I use it several times a week.
I would not use a stand in for garlic.
But everyone is different.

You can make that substitution and it will taste good. It just won't taste the same as with both garlic and onions.

You cannot "substitute" onions for garlic, because they`re not the same, so you´ll get a different flavour. Like "substituting" carrots for parsnips.
Anything with loads of onions always tastes good to me, mind you.

most garlic in israel is chinese

thanks
i think i'm more into onions than garlic.
this is how it came with the oval meat 'balls'

Onions aren’t a substitute for garlic. They taste very different.

But your stew is YOUR stew. Use what tastes good to you !

good
anyhow i've found the onions very sufficient and there was no real need for garlic for me at least

crushing garlic is a bit effort

i usually buy the dorot's product but they are not always using israeli garlic.
