Question about high heat and teflon

Your pan temperatures would not have reached dangerous temperatures. Your pan surface would have to reach temperatures in excess of 650ºF before the Teflon starts to break down. At temperatures in that range, your grease would have been smoking a great deal and perhaps catching on fire.
