A few years back, I had Fathers day at my house. Didn't feel like cooking too much so I got a bunch of Plain Cheese pies , and created a " Pizza Bar", I fried up onions, mushrooms, peppers, cut up some olives and a bunch of other stuff. Put them all in separate dishes with serving spoons. And basically made a top your own pizza buffet. Was nice and easy, and all my cooking was done in advance so I was able to enjoy my day. ( im sure I made a salad, a baked ziti , garlic bread and others stuff too, but the main Course was top your own pizza. Obviously, in this situation , toppings on top. Come to think of it, I think I made a plain crust with provolone on it, so if people wanted a salad pizza, they could just put the salad on the plain cheese crust.

DH likes sauce and Cheese Only Pizza, with Anchovies on the side.
I like them ALL!
So when I make homemade Pizza, I'll do 2 or even 3 Pies.
He SAYS he only wants Cheese, but then I pull out the
Pepperoni Pie and he wants "just a small slice" ... and
then comes out the Supreme (Sweet Italian Sausage, sliced
Black Olives, Sweet White Onions, Sweet Bell Peppers and sliced
Mushrooms) and he wants that too!

As to the original question:
I make my homemade Pizza with just enough Sauce
to thinly coat the top of the Pie, blast it in the hot box at
550 until the crust starts to rise then the Cheese goes on
and it's back into the oven for another 2-3 minutes.

IF I'm making a Pie with "goodies" on it, it's sauce and toppings,
blast for 2-3 minutes and then Cheese and back into the oven.

Believe it or not, we don't care for the Cheese atop Pizza to be browned,
just barely melted really. And yes, I've had Pizza in New York City,
as well as in many, many other towns across this Country,
but by far and away, I like mine best. :chef:
Oh, and DH is the Root Beer guy and I'm Trader Joe's Dark Beer :yum:

We used to make little mini pizzas out of the Pillsbury (or store brand) flaky biscuits. Way better than the frozen mini bagel pizzas.

English muffins work for that as well. I've even made pizza using flour tortillas. The flour tortillas are mostly for my lazy moments where I want pizza, but I don't feel like making the crust, as most of the pizza I eat is homemade.

Here are a couple of my mini-style creations. The first one is tomato and Swiss cheese on a pita bread and the 2nd one is my version of a Mexican pizza.
