Hello,
So I'm planning to prepare a lotus cheesecake, but in order to prepare it I need some ingredients such as:
- 1.5 large pack of lotus
- Around 1 cup of lotus spread (so i will have to buy a full bottle)
- around 500g cream cheese (a bit expensive, at least where i live)
- cooking cream
- butter

These are the ingredients that I can remember for now. But most of them are not exactly cheap. Is there anything I can substitue them with? Mainly the cream and the cheese (since I doubt I can remove the lotus biscuits)

Hi. You can't make a cheesecake without cream cheese - that's where the "cheese" in the name comes from.

I don't know what "cooking cream" is. I found this recipe that calls for sour cream. I doubt that you need to make a sour cream topping for this (other types would work fine). It calls for only a half cup in the cheesecake batter. Hope this helps.

I often strain cultured buttermilk through muslin to drain off the whey and use in cheesecake or quiche. Results in a tangier cheesecake which I prefer and it is cheaper here than cream cheese.
