    Prune Juice Cocktails (Really!)

I cannot stand prune juice - but I can eat dried pitted prunes!!! Yes, it's good for constipation which is the only reason why I eat them - but not everyday because it causes overkill when I go to the bathroom!! Does this happen with anybody else?

    Storing Shrimp Salad

I made a bowl of 'Shrimp Salad' last night; and there was a lot left so I stored it in the refrigerator - I forgot to put into a container or cover it with something. Will it still be OK to eat tonight?

    Reheating chicken drums!

I just got (today) a better pan and rack that fits on top of it; also have a silicone pad on the pan - tonight I will try to bake them. I prefer a crispy outside and a tender inside.

    Reheating chicken drums!

Whole Foods used to have these black cherry chicken wings (made fresh) and I loved them. So, I tried to figure out how to make them myself. First, I couldn't find the black cherry sauce they use to make them! What I would like to do is learn how to make small chicken wings/legs from scratch...

    Reheating chicken drums!

At Whole Foods, they used to have all kinds of cooked chicken wings (freshly made) which I got all the time. Now, they just have them packed in a plastic container, and they don't taste good to me. But, occasionally I still get them and started wondering if there was a better way to warm them...

    Reheating chicken drums!

I thought of that - but I didn't have any kind of rack that would fit (I looked); so I wound up buying a rack made for on top of the pan when I want the food to be raised! Thank you for the tip.

    Reheating chicken drums!

They are already cooked, refrigerated chicken drumsticks (from Whole Foods). Sometimes they have them fresh - but not lately - and I really dislike them after heating them up in the microwave. I tried one thing last night. I baked them in the 'toaster oven' for 15 minute or so - and they...

    Reheating chicken drums!

Hi there, I sometimes buy refrigerated 'chicken' drums that are already packaed cooked. I have always put them in the microwave for 30 sec to warm them. But they lose their flavor and dry out! I don't enjoy them. What is the best way to reheat these chicken drums? I have an oven and a...

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

Hi all, I just wanted to thank everyone for their feedback. I'll finish this thread by saying - I figured out what I was doing wrong - !!! After preheating for about 5 minutes; I think what I was doing was 'opening' the door - stopping it and restarting it to bake; but I wasn't able to adjust...

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

The item is not returnable. I got it at a great price at Bed N Bath (going out of business) I'll have to reread the manual to see if there are any clues.... I don't think it is 'overheating' - It preheats, I put in the food, it shuts down after 5 minutes. I press start again to cook it...

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

It's probably better if I take photos. When I set it to bake - I have the option of how much time to bake and how many degrees. No matter what I set the timer to (in the beginning) after I put it in to bake (after preheating) - it just shuts off after 5 minutes. It doesn't seem to matter what...

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

I get it that the bottom know has dual functions; but I still cannot change the minutes once it starts baking.

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

Yes - in the very beginning their is. But once it's starts baking - after preheating - I can't change that number. So I set it to baking, 400 degrees. And the baking is set to 30 minutes. When it is finished 'preheating' I put the shrimp in the oven to cook; once I do that - I cannot change...

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

Now that I have been cooking with the Toaster Oven - mostly just some breads, Shrimp Tempura and a small frozen pizza....I have a question about my toaster oven when baking~ Shrimp Tempura: The directions say for 'oven' 1) preheat at 400 degrees. 2) Place shrimp in oven and bake 10 minutes...

Just want everyone to know that the shrimp came out perfectly...better than the oven!

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

I got it. And I just learned, that I still have to bake about 10 minutes on each side - it does not bake any faster than my normal oven. They came out perfectly, btw.

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

I have another question about baking tempura shrimp. The box doesn't have instructions for a toaster oven. In an oven, it requires me to preheat the oven to 450° -- then I cook 10 minutes on each side. Comes out perfect. Does it bake faster in the 'toaster oven'?

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

So pre-heat it first, then put the tray in to cook? What about 'pizza' which has its own category - it also requires preheating, but I put the pizza in the toaster oven from the start and waited about 10 minutes. What I'm first trying is the shrimp tempura (to bake). There are 5 in the pack -...

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

I have another question about 'baking' - now that I have my silcone mats, etc. The recipe calls for 'preheating' to 450° - then bake on each side for 10 minutes. Pretty straightfoward for an oven. When the toaster oven is 'preheating' - should the food already be in the toaster oven? Or - is...

What do these matts look like? The one I have wasn't cheap - so it must be another kind.

That's a good idea! I like these matts, better than tin foil.

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

The mat that I have IS too big for the toaster oven, but it will fit in a smaller pyrex pan. As long as the shrimp aren't touching each other ; I can make them fit; I guess I'll just have to experiment.

Baking in my new GE Toaster Oven!

Bed N Bath was going out of business; and they suddenly had these GE toaster ovens for sale for $79! I think the regular price is close to $200. So on impulse I grabbed it. Of course I had to move around a lot in my small kitchen for it to fit! Now I have to practice using it!!!
