    Successful Prime Rib

I used the reverse sear (or whatever it's called) for a rib roast on Wed and I was very pleased with the result. The pic below is my plate and for the complete story with several pics check out http://bigdudesramblings.blogspot.com/.

    WOW.......Flat Irons

We occasionally find them on sale for $4.99 and always buy several. I've never been disappointed. I cooked several a couple of months ago for a fajita party and they worked great - the butcher had recommended them over flank steak.

    Good Deal On Strip Steaks

Krogers had whole USDA choice beef strips on sale last week for $3.99 per pound. It was just too good of a deal to pass up, so we bought a couple of them – total weight of 26 pounds. They were from National Beef Packing Co, which I’d never heard of, so I did a little research. They are owned by...

    Wood

I took a quick look at Craigslist for Columbus and Zanesville and found hardwood firewood in both places. Also, check your local paper for firewood. I've used mostly red oak for years and it works great. You can surely find plenty of oak or hickory from the firewood sellers and apple from the...

Tex - Mex Day At The Ranch

Gotch ya - I do it this way because I can post a lot more pictures easier as I don't have to go thru Photobucket to make them available - saves me time yet still provides all the food porn for others who want to see it.

    Burnt ends help needed

I have a friend to whom I made the mistake of serving some burnt ends a few weeks ago just to use up a brisket point and now she wants more, more, more. Like most folks, I make them from the brisket point, but I'm not always cooking a brisket with an available point. Any suggestions as to what...

Cooked Yesterday - Lot's of Que Porn

It had egg. I scramble the eggs very moist then mix with the other stuff. There's lots of moisture inside the fatty to keep them from getting dry.

Cooked Yesterday - Lot's of Que Porn

Yesterday was cook day for me and of course it rained about all day, but it was still a great day. I cooked 2 briskets, 2 butts, 3 spares, 7 BB’s, ten 1# bologna rounds, a half pork loin, a split turkey breast, 5# of thighs, 5# of wings, and 20# of breasts. It kept the Stumps full all day. For...

    Hot Dogs and Pepperoni Rolls

They look good and I prefer stick pepperoni to sliced or chunked. We usually use three sticks arranged to get meat in every bread bite.
