I had trouble finding pork bellies, but finally found them at a local Asian store. They are spendy there, in the $4-5/lb range. This morning the local Costco had them at $2.29/lb. Now I can make bacon cheaper than I can buy and it is custom cured, smoked and sliced.

Just wanted to say thanks to those serving and who have served in the past. You are true American heroes.

I just got back from a 10 day moose hunt with my son, nephew and niece's husband. Just a few pics attached.

This guy was in the front yard of the across the street neighbor as I was leaving for work this morning.

Last weekend my wife and I judged at the state championship. I thought you guys would get a kick out of the grand champion trophy.

I finally found a local source for pork belly. It was the Asian market. So I cured a belly for a week and smoked it today. I cut the belly into 3 slabs for easier smoking. This first pic is 2 of the slabs just off the smoker. Then I sliced it. Time for a taste test. Than a BLT.

Rotisseried a chicken last night for dinner along with prosciutto wrapped asparagus. The asparagus pic is precook. We have been having a great summer with sunny 75* days. That's hot for us.

There was a lot of fresh seafood at the Saturday market and I thought paella. The first pic is before it went on the Big Green Egg. It has local shrimp, local scallops, local clams, Spanish chorizo and pork and chicken from I don't know where. The veggies were rice, green peppers, onions...

It's time for a new moose pic.

My oldest son used a rifle I gave him a few years ago to fill his Oregon elk cow tag. The rifle is a Winchester pre 64 Model 70 30.06. The elk gutted, skinned, head off weighed 350 pounds. A lot of good eats. And wittdog, a lot of it is going to turn into sausage. Mkaes a dad proud.

A buddy and I went to the Wasilla Gun show yesterday. It is held annually in the high school gym and is sponsered by the high school hockey team. A young lawyer working in my office played hockey in high school in Wasilla (yes, BW, one of your girlfriend Sarah's kids was also on the team). The...
