Those are some great progress pictures! I also post at www.johnstonefitness.com forums, and if you're interested in finding fitness information from normal people who have made the kind of changes you have I highly recommend checking that site out! The folks are really friendly, and the...

    Buffalo-Chicken Meatballs!

Buffalo-Chicken Meatballs (This would also make an awesome meatloaf) 1/4lb buffalo 1 boneless skinless chicken breast 1/4 cup breadcrumbs 2 egg (yolk removed) onions, garlic, etc. Cook the chicken but not the buffalo meat. Then combine both in a food processor along with the breadcrumbs and...

    Mustard!!

I'm not the biggest mustard fan, still developing a tatse for it..but did anyone else see the Unwrapped show on FoodNetwork's segment on the mustard museum? They had like 2 thousand types! The owner said he basically put a diff. kind of mustard on everything and of his favorites was sweet...

    Making Pepperoncini Advice

I was thinking...while I'm not sure how to add heat or whatever..try this: My mom does this with pickles. She'll eat all the pickles in the jar, then she'll just cut up cucumbers and put them in the pickle juice with some seasoning and in a few days they turn in to great pickles. Why not try...

The Ultimate Picky Eater Recipe Challenge...

Kitchenelf- Chances of me "caving" are slim to none. I'll be the proudest man about my daughter because she'll be healthy and in good shape, not because I let her walk all over me and eat whatever she wants. As a parent I will NEVER (feel free to mark my words) let my children be wrapped...

The Ultimate Picky Eater Recipe Challenge...

Heart health (as you probably know) has nothing to do with being "naturally skinny". The same is true of health in general. Weight and size aren't issues at all! Her metabolism will slow down eventually and the bad habits will remain...this happens to many people and accounts for heart...

    Brie

I don't know how I feel about the brie on salmon. It seemed to lose its flavour under the broiler...the salmon was certainly tasty and the brie didn't detract from that, but it was most def. overpowered. I guess I'll just stick to eating it plain or with bread and perhaps wine if I have the...

The Ultimate Picky Eater Recipe Challenge...

Nope, no kids yet, but when I do have them I'm certainly not going to put up with this kind of negative behavior. Nor will I allow my kids to lead an unhealthy lifestyle. If that means causing "WWIII" every mealtime, then thats what it means. My mom let me get away with this type of "picky...

The Ultimate Picky Eater Recipe Challenge...

Tomato soup, tomato sauce, and cheese are NOT healthy. Tuna is close if she isn't slathering it w/ all kinds of crap.. I agree 100% no prepackaged meals. The sodium isn't the concern, neither is the fat content (fat is good for you...although transfats and saturated fats aren't), its the CALORIES!

The Ultimate Picky Eater Recipe Challenge...

If I were you, my issue would not be with how picky she is but how UNHEALTHY that diet is!! If she were picky about only eating good quality healthy foods, LET HER BE..but that is not the case!!! Time to just say "Look, I'm making a meal eat it or go hungry!" She's 15, thats grown up enough...

    Almond pesto

Iron Chef- While that was an interesting post, in my opinion the source was biased and further more not enough time nor study has ever been put forth to show anything but a general trend that SUGGESTS that soy beans could be good for such illness. Thats not to say they're not healthy, or to say...

    Brie

I've got a 1/4lb salmon fillet I'm going to try this out on..if I like it I'll bust out a bigger fillet. The only problem for me is that I don't have dijon...my feeling is that I'm going to make a curry, garlic, chive, and tomato mixture in my small food processor. Then pan-sear the salmon...

    Grilling Indoors?

I have a round grill pan, but I was wondering if there might be something I could simply place overtop of my burners that would act as a mock-grill indoors. I live alone in an apartment with no balcony or patio. I don't want something like the Foreman grill, but I'd like something similar...

    Brie

This is where I have trouble...I don't want something sweet, because I'd rather eat the brie by itself, I don't have a grill, and honestly I don't know how a substitution for roquefort would be...I've heard of brie chicken,b ut its generally done on whole chickens, and I just don't have that...

    Your favourite healthy meal ideas!!!

IronChef-- Fantastic post about fats. Also, I think its worth adding that an excess of fat+carbohydrate meals is often a very poor choice. This combination makes fat storage easier than it would be under a wider or more specific combination. Either way, its good that others realize the...

    Brie

Anyone got a good brie recipe...I have a block of it...I love it by itself, and not with anything sweet...but since my dad bought it for me as a gift, and I have a bit more than I'm used to I thought about using some of it in a recipe too...

    Your favourite healthy meal ideas!!!

Actually Mayo is fine for you. Don't believe me, you say? Lets break it down: Canola oil is abou the third or fourth best oil for you after flaxseed, fish, and olive oils. Canola oil and egg yolks are what mayo is made of..and I eat eggs nearly every other day. FAT IS GOOD FOR YOU PEOPLE...

    A great and inexpensive tea!!

I buy fresh teas and often that can get expensive...but I've found that chamomile costs only pennies and the secret ingredient I use is... LAVENDER!!!! Cooking with lavender is something I do quite frequently, but for some reason mixing it with chamomile is simply heavenly!!! I can't get...

    Tailoring Textures

My bread machine makes bread that, when toasted, gives a delightful texture. It gets hard only on the outside but the inside remains soft and chewey. I just made a wheat-beer-chive bread, and it is so delectable for textural reasons. Pair it toasted with some cottage cheese and you basically...

    Almond pesto

Soy nuts are not as good for you as you think. They contain very little in terms of EFAs and the protien content while higher than other nuts isn't high in comparison to how calorically dense it is...they're OK, but not great.

    Spice Rack

I have very little counterspace, and would prefer not to put anything on my walls. Anyone know of a good standup style spicerack I could put on top of my microwave? I generally keep about 8-10 spices and purchase fresh herbs more often than dried herbs. Any links to good online stores might...
