    ISO cake decorating tips

First and foremost I learned how to make icing: beat together- 1/2 cup softened butter 1/2 cup crisco 1 tsp. vanilla gradually add- 4 cups powdered sugar then add 1 tbsp milk more or less if needed. To be honest I personally don't like the flavor of this, it just works really well for...

Rice Cookers ... Please give me your advice/ideas.

I think our rice cooker is still the same one my mom had from college haha. It is an ugly yellow color and you have to bend the cord a certain way for it to turn on. As crappy as it may look on the outside, it still works perfectly. As far as I'm concerned a rice cooker is a rice cooker. In my...

I have a Cannon brand digital camera. I've had it for almost 3 years and it takes pretty good photos as well as videos. I have a 2 GB memory card which is the perfect size for my uses. I take TONS of pictures, at the zoo, birthdays, concerts, vacations, everywhere I go, my camera goes too. It...

Going to and from the Grocery Store by foot.

A light weight fold able cart would work well. We take one when we go to the city, or china town. You could bring a collapsible cooler with an ice pack to store the freezer items in. When I get in line to pay at the store I strategically place certain items together so they will bag them...

    Garlic Bread - and intro

This sounds like a fun idea I would love to try myself. When I make regular garlic bread I first spread on the thinnest layer of mayo, it sounds weird, but I've had good results. Also, I like a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese too.

    Using measuring devices...

I agree with everyone else, for cooking I measure to taste. For baking I am very exact, my mom even gave me measuring spoons for "pinch", "dash", and "smidgen" as a joke.

    Cornbread, Right or Wrong!

I like it when there are actual pieces of corn in my cornbread, its a nice surprise. So even when I'm doing a box recipe I'll just throw in some frozen corn.

    Your barby can kill you!

Sounds great. I actually just posted a big paragraph on another thread about the risk of cancer due to the formation of toxic compounds on meats which cook for long times at high temperatures.

Safe to reheat frozen then refrigerated chicken stock?

When certain meats are cooked at high temperatures toxic chemicals that are not found in uncooked meat, such as heterocyclic amines, are produced. Heterocyclic amines are carcinogenic chemicals produced when cooking meats such as beef, chicken, pork, or fish at high temperatures. When...

What's the last movie you watched?

My boyfriend talked me into seeing Taken which I was timid about since I like happy movies. He really enjoyed it, but it just freaked me out. I asked him how he would feel if he was in my position as a young female...

Safe to reheat frozen then refrigerated chicken stock?

Should be fine to eat as long as it was not left out for an extremely long time before refrigerating. I always thaw meats in the fridge so there is no room for error. Basically, cold inhibits growth and heat is said to kill MOST microorganisms. If something in the chicken is already toxic before...

    ISO help with pizza dough

I think the yeast might be the problem... sometimes the warm water isn't enough to wake up the yeast, you can try to add a tiny dash of sugar to the warm water so the yeast has something to nibble on.
