    Mushroom Ideas

Hi, Just bought 5lbs of mushrooms as they were a great deal. We usually have sauteed mushrooms with port, and love them that way, but have no desire to have 5lbs of them. Looking for ideas to use them. Ideally want a mushroom dish and not an "something & mushrooms" dish if you know what I...

Pre-boil Potatoes for Roasting... the night before

Parboiled until the outside is just starting to break away then into the oil preheated to the oven temp makes the perfect roasted potatoes with crispy outsides with crunchy bits, and light fluffy moist insides perfect for splitting with a fork and covering in rich gravy...

Pre-boil Potatoes for Roasting... the night before

OK, Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and I want to get as much done today to lessen tomorrows workload. I make great fluffy roasted potatoes by boiling them until they are soft and starting to almost crumble, then adding them to the pre-heated oil. Traps the moisture inside them. I know I can peel...

What's on sale at your supermarket this week?

That price comes up about every 4 to 6 weeks and always at any of the big holidays. It's a pretty good cut too, not the finest grade but still lovely and if you ask the butcher he gives you his best.

    Easter Dinner?

We have a 12lb prime rib in the fridge but I was not up to cooking the big dinner physically so instead we went to my parents and had Chinese food. It was a great time and hopefully the roast can be done on Tuesday.

Do you worry about sanitation when eating out?

I was in the grocery store on Saturday and a customer picked up and squeezed every single lose bun in the bakery section, finally she took two and put them in her bag. It's not the kitchens you have to worry about, it is everything everywhere, thankfully nature has given us pretty good immune...

    First Boston Butt!

Hi, OK grabbed a shoulder here today and am just about to try this out. After I do the rub how long should I let it sit before the crock pot? No liquid is added, just let it cook in the fats that will melt out of the cut correct? Cook on the lowest setting of the crock pot? This is my first...
