Newbie Question for experienced keto eater

What fats are you eating? Might consider some coconut oil, mostly medium chain triglycerides, so your body can't store them. When I plateau, I add more coconut oil or some straight MCG oil to jump start ketosis. Welcome aboard!

    Pressure cookers

Try the cheaper, fattier ground beef. 73% lean, maybe. The extra fat will give it a softer, juicier mouth, and it will stay moister, easier to swallow. Tastier, too, if you're OK with a little more animal fat in your diet.

Newbie Question for experienced keto eater

Too much protein will knock you out of ketosis. Fat is about 9 calories/gram, carbs and protein about 4 cal/gram. Fat is a much denser fuel, so you have to force or trick your body into burning it instead of the others, which are less dense and burn more readily. Cut back on protein and use mct...

    Small amounts of beans

I have not encountered a problem with the texture of the beans I presoak with vinegar.

    Small amounts of beans

I cook beans from dried, usually pinto, in my stovetop pressure cooker. Old Presto 6 qt. stainless steel. It'll manage 2# dried beans with meat, onion, seasoning and such. I had to wait until I was (am) 68 years old to learn that by adding a cup of vinegar, and I use cider vinegar, to the...

Where to start...metal meat grinder w/extra grinding plates, grain mill, tho' I don't use it and should pass it on, beater blade (yes!), stainless steel dough hook, extra bowls, pelican head with all four disks, pour chute/shield, water jacket, snap on lids for mixer bowls, basic 3 pasta...

    Ideal blender for frozen fruits

Vitamix. I put a Waring stainless steel container on it. Yes, it fits. Works better than the plastic one. I have to look down into it to see the stuff. I'm OK with that.

    Vitamix question

Thanks, all, for the feedback. I went ahead and bought one. Costy, but I'm only buying one, one time. This is the container that should come on a Vitamix.

    Second Hand Finds

Second hand finds. I went to one yard sale today. Bought something I can't use because it was a good deal. A great deal. An as new #12 hub Alfa pelican head with a 3/16" shredder disk. As new. Way too big for my N50, with its dinky #10 hub. This is for big mixers. But hey...$17.

    Blenders

Horse traded up to a new Vita Mix, love it. Even found a stainless steel container (from Waring) that fits it perfectly.

    Dehydrator recommendations

I had a Nesco Gardenmaster, and gave it away when I was gifted a 9 tray Excakibur. I liked the Nesco better, more distance between trays.

Using a Nutribullet to make nut butter

I think it didn't compete well with Cuisinart's other processors, notably the Classic DLC-10. I have an old Mini Pro Plus, and it is still working just fine. I also have an 11 cup Cuisinart, the one with all the accessories and extra discs. Old, bought used, same style, square body. It rocks.

Using a Nutribullet to make nut butter

I think what would be best for you would be a now out of production but readily available on ebay Cuisinart Little Pro Plus 3 cup food processor. Great for what you want to do.

    Breakfast Sandwich Maker

I can do this with my old waffle maker. Reverse the plates to the smooth side and put an egg and a slice of Taylor pig in there along with a sliced muffin. Assemble it and good to go.

    Andouille Fresh Batch

Question? Did you use a sausage stuffer, or stuff the casings from the grinder? I have been making bulk sausage and would like to try making links, but don't have a stuffer. Looks like it would take four hands using the grinder on my mixer. Thanks.

    Stainless steel wok concern

Sounds like someone tried to sell you on nickel poisoning from stainless steel cookware. Pure bs, don't believe it for a minute. It's an old lie, been around for a while.

If you are interested, pineapple cores are where the anti-inflammatory enzyme bromelain is most concentrated. Good to know for post workout smoothies.

    New toy in the kitchen...

Agree about the grapefruit. I cut up bananas and bag and freeze them for smoothies. Pineapple juice and coconut milk go well together. I've been using VitaMix's forever and really like them. Easy, great pesto machine, too. Just scored a stainless steel mixing container for mine. Not from...

Using a Nutribullet to make nut butter

I make between a pint and a quart at a time, depending on how much nuts I have. I would think a 7c kweez would be fine for a cup to a pint. I use a rubber spatula to wipe all the butter out of the workbowl into a jar, as well as off the blade. Cleanup after that is about 5 minutes with hot soapy...

Using a Nutribullet to make nut butter

I have an 11c kweez, and make pb in it all the time. I also have a Vitamix. Not as good. I have had a NutriBullet. Not as good. Champion juicer, not as good. The kweez seems to be the best option I've found so far. Put the nuts in to just cover the plastic top of the chopping blade, I add some...

    Juicer

Just given an Omega VRT350. I was told it quit running, if I could fix it it's mine. They put the top on wrong, it works fine. Just juiced a couple bunches of cilantro and some celery. As good a quality juice as my Green Star GS1000, dry pulp, easier to clean, smaller footprint.

    Juicer

I have a Green Life GF 1000. Twin gear, masticating, slow juicer, can do other things but I don't, and it works very well, with one caveat. The two masticating gears have timing marks, and it can be assembled for use with the timing marks misaligned...and break. Not for the mechanically disinclined.
