    Foil Packets?

these jumbo foil packets showed up at Wal-Mart again just before thanksgiving. I picked up 3 boxes in case they disappear again. The aluminum material is most certainly MUCH thicker than even the heavy duty aluminum foil. They are Reynolds: Hot Bags 17" X 15"

Made ranch for the first time

I buy all my spices through the Penzey's catalog. They recently opened a store across town from me so had to check it out. I picked up a bag of ranch salad dressing mix while there. The mix is only flavorings with nothing artificial in it. I mixed the spices with buttermilk and mayo. The...

Do you cook with an apron?

I like to cook with an apron for some reason. However, my only apron does not have an adjustable neck strap so it ends up being pretty uncomfortable to wear. Why wear an apron? Is the purpose just to keep your clothes cleaner?

Has anyone taken a cooking class?

Has anyone taken a real cooking class? Is it worth the cost? Is there a better way to learn? I'm thinking more about learning techniques rather than just recipes. My wife sent me this link. A friend of hers is doing a "date night" cooking class for her anniversary...

    World of Warcraft

I've been playing since open beta. I started out on the Silver Hand RP server and later moved to the Maelstrom RP-PvP server. I can't explain why but I've played Horde since release. I'm stuck on hybrids with lots of shaman and druids under my belt. I intent to try out a BE paladin when the...

    Cheddar in South America

I was in Bolivia for 2 years and rarely saw any non-native cheeses. Bolivia is about as 3rd world as Columbia. You should be able to find some small groceries for americans that sell peanut butter, breakfast cereal and other amenities that americans want while in South America.

    Foil Packets?

i ended up making my own packets but it didn't work out so well. The contents were big and heavy. There was no way that a home-made seal was going to hold 7 pounds of potatoes and veggies. I guess I"ll have to put more effort into finding the pre-made packets.

    Foil Packets?

You used to be able to purchase pre-made foil packets at the store. The edges were sealed and the foil was MUCH more heavy duty than regular foil. I looked around but haven't been able to find them at the grocery store. Are these still available any where?

    Springform pan leaking? help!

I'm not the baker in the family so I've never worked with springform pans but this one leaks ALOT with water. I figure that water isn't the best test medium since it is so much thinner than batter but that's what I have to work with at the moment. This is a 9" springform pan made by Wilton...

    Noxious Garlic?

I eat alot of garlic. I love garlic. I must admit, however, that I don't have a ton of experience with using fresh garlic. I got tired of mincing about 8 years ago and haven't used fresh garlic in a very long time. So, I grew a whole lot of basil this year and I decided to try my hand at...

    Favorite Hot Sauces?

I've been a pepper-head for years. I've tried some good sauces and some poor ones. I like hot but it also has to taste good. Sauces that are pure fire usually fail for lack of flavor. I've never been fond of sauces with much vinegar in them. Cholula and Frank's Red Hot are both pretty good...

    Hells Kitchen?

I love ****'s Kitchen. Ramsey demands excellance and he can be mean when you screw up but I've noticed that many people who demand perfection can be taskmasters. Watch how nice he is when the winning team gets to go out to dinner with him. I really enjoy watching the show though. Even...

    Healthiest Oil?

There doesn't seem to be any clear concensus on which liquid cooking oil is the healthiest. There is a long list of oils commonly used for cooking but for some reason nobody seems to know which one is best. Corn Oil Cottonseed Oil Canola Oil Olive Oil Palm Oil Peanut Oil Poppyseed Oil...

    Hash browns?

any suggestions on how to keep hash browns from turning out bad? Mine usually either turn out mushy or they stick to the pan and burn. Onions and red peppers are my favorite additives. I have heard that giving the grated potatoes a saline bath will wash of the starches (making them less...
