    Local Honey

I've eaten local honey, especially in the springtime, for years. I'm not sure if it helped much, but I'd like to think so since I love honey! BC

Are We Really the Nicest, Friendliest, etc.?

I have been on some very nice forums, and moderate a couple non-cooking boards. Some are larger forums than this and some are small. There are occasional trolls, moreso on more popular topic forums than cooking ones, but if you have decent moderators, it's not a big problem from what I can...

Do you use Tivo or a DVR?

Funny you should mention this at this point in time. I can't really vote because technically I have a TiVo - it's in the trunk of the car waiting to go to the post office to be returned. The concept is good, and it certainly looks like the product is good, but after spending 11 hours(!!!) on...

    Baked Potato Soup

It looks delicious. I'll have to wait for awhile to make this, as we're going into a stretch of weather in the 90's for awhile, but I will print this for later in the year. BC

Can someone help me obtain this jerk seasoning

LOL! I use the paste as well. It can be fiery! BC

I'll rate your peanut butter sandwich.

But bacon tastes nothing like honey ham... I've never had either of those things with peanut butter, but bacon is one of God's great gifts, and so is peanut butter, so I may have to try this. I've always been a bit of a PB purist, and have never even tried PB & J! BC

    Varicose Veins

My mother has terrible vericose veins and had them removed surgically many years ago. More have appeared and her legs are a knotted mess, but she's too elderly now to have it done again. The surgery was not pleasant, but again, it was many years ago. If it's any help to you, she said she'd...

Can someone help me obtain this jerk seasoning

I've not heard of Annie Mae's, but we got some Walker's Wood Jerk Seasoning in Jamaica years ago, and it's not like being there, but it's good and it's available at many stores. Even my friend from Kingston uses it. BC

USA Today: Spicy ice cream hits a hot spot

Mmmmmm boy, an ice cream that makes a person vomit after one spoonful. People make me wonder sometimes. BC

What did you eat today? Accountability thread

I have kept a daily diary of everything I injest, along with my weight and activities, for months now, and believe it or not, just journaling like that has helped me to shave off a few pounds. Not a lot, mind you, but about 10-12 since February. It seems that on weekdays, I have coffee, then a...

Michael Jordan being sued for his looks!!!

If it bothered the guy so much, why did he continue to shave his head the way Jordon does, and wear an earring and a mustache that resembles him? How ridiculous. BC

Who Is Your Favorite Celebrity Chef?

Haha! BigJim mentioned Mr. Food. I like him too. My real favorite is, and will probably always be Jacques Pepin. I love the way he teaches you how to handle the knives and such, along with his instructions on preparing the food. All very clear and all very interesting. BC

Favorite way to prepare your cucumbers?

I peel, seed and chop them, add some chopped scallions, and combine them with cottage cheese that I've doctored with a little lemon juice, a tiny bit of mayo and a bit of Tabasco. It's a delightful side salad to serve with grilled food.

    Orange Tic Tac

Black & Tans are a combination of Guiness and Bass where I come from too. As for orange Tic Tacs, I've never even tasted them, so I can't comment. BC

Tenderising meat using bi-carb of soda

It sounds fine to me to use these tips for cooking, but the website Constance posted talked about putting a little in the tea water. Don't you think that would make the tea taste salty? BC

Better To Drive Drunk Than On Cell Phone?!?

I was going to bring up the same point of talking to passengers in the car as well. I really don't see the difference either. I understand that if you're taking your eyes off the road to dial a cell phone or fumble to find it, that's different and unacceptable. People do often have a bunch of...

Better To Drive Drunk Than On Cell Phone?!?

It is illegal in Chicago, and also in the nearby town of Naperville, IL to talk on a cell phone while driving. It is not illegal to talk using a handsfree device. I certainly agree with that, and use a handsfree device when I'm in the car, whether I'm in those cities or not. It's much safer. And...

    Burgers with shakes?

Is there a full moon? There's a lot of anger and name calling going on here today. BC

Better To Drive Drunk Than On Cell Phone?!?

The difference, however, is that if you're drunk, you're drunk. Believe it or not, I agree that too many people talk too much on their cell phones, but it's not illegal to do so, so what kind of penalties are they proposing for doing something that's not illegal? BC

Better To Drive Drunk Than On Cell Phone?!?

I don't know about you guys, but on my route home there is no "side of the road" to pull off onto. There's hardly room for the cars to drive. While I can't for the life of me figure out just why so many people are driving and talking, or shopping and talking, or talking in restaurants or...

    Toning down spicy chili

It's very hard to tone down chili that is too hot. I agree that you might want to just start another batch to add to it with no heat. Either that or divide it up and freeze the hot stuff with your son's name on it. BC

    Reality Shows

I don't know how anyone can watch most of these shows. I think they appeal to the lowest common denominator, and I can't stand to see people win by deceit and backstabbing. The ones who don't seem to pit one against the other are just amateur hours. I prefer to watch professional singers...
