What album/cassette/cd have you most listened to in your life?

Oh, I've listened to Dark Side of the Moon many many many times as well. Good choice. I'm sure the album/cd/cassette I've listened to more than any, however, is Blood on the Tracks by Bob Dylan. A masterpiece. BC

    Cut or Burn?

I think people put butter on a burn back in the day because burns dry out and the skin peels off, just like when you sunburn, and you try to keep that to a minimum by moisturizing the skin. As for cutting or burning, I burn more often, but I did end up in the emergency room the night before...

HEY!! Tell us about your Cat! :)

Well, I find dogs messier than cats (and kids are the messiest of all!) but if you get wiggly about a little fur or a few footprints on your tables, you won't be happy with cats. If you're persistent enough while you're home, you may keep them off of your counters and such, but as soon as you...

    ISO Jacques Pepin trifle recipe

I love Walker's cookies so I thought it sounded delightful. I thought he also added a bit of brandy to the sauce, but that could have been my thought when I saw the show. Here is what I found in looking further on the web last night: Strawberry-Shortbread Panachee Recipe #122259 This...

    ISO Jacques Pepin trifle recipe

On one of his shows on PBS recently, I saw him make a trifle that included strawberries and Walker's shortbread cookies. It may be the Fast Food My Way program. Does anyone have the book (maybe the recipe is in there) or remember the strawberry trifle he made? It looked very simple, but good...

Stovetop cooking with Pyrex Visions cookware?

I've never had a problem with Visions pans, and I've probably done everything they said not to do in the instructions as well. I occasionally had something stick and it was hard to clean, but that happens no more often than with metal pans. They're fine really. I never had one explode...

    HELP! peanut brittle

Well, thumper, you're in MN so I don't think it's the weather, but if you have had warm and/or wet weather it won't harden like it does in cold dry weather. Sounds like you need to get a candy thermometer and to cook yours more. Cooking it longer turns it brown. BC

    ISO dessert

I like to make poached pears and serve them with a bit of ice cream and a chocolate sauce. Sometimes I put each pear on a circle of pound cake and then drizzle the sauce over the top. BC

Red Skelton's Recipe for a Perfect Marriage

Ah, you must be a youngster then. Not a problem - that's how you find out about these things! Of course Red Skelton was as old a comedian as Henny, but more famous. He had his own television show, whereas Henny was a standup comic. Henny's famous for his "Take my wife...please!" joke. He had a...

Red Skelton's Recipe for a Perfect Marriage

Actually, those are all Henny Youngman jokes. Red was a much kinder, gentler comedian, but don't get me wrong - I loved Henny...and I loved Red too. You know why they called him Henny? Because he laid so many eggs *rimshot*. BC

    Snow!

When I was an optician a million years ago, I had an older patient come to me to fix his glasses who had one of those halo things on his head and shoulders because he had broken his neck. I asked him how he was doing with all that and he said to me "I sneezed this morning". Before I could even...

    Gifts for That Hard-to-Shop-For Person

I'm so glad you said you said that buckytom, because I bought one of those for my brother this year. He has pretty bad eyesight and wanted extra light on his reading materials, and wanted a booklight. I figured this might be better because booklights aren't good for magazines and this one had...

    Germ I.Q.

If I put my toothbrush in the bedroom window, I'd probably have a cat sitting on it, which would defeat the purpose of moving it in the first place. It will have to stay in the medicine cabinet and I'll have to take my chances with the spray. BC

Food you wouldn't put in your mouth.

I don't care to try to eat anything with suckers, like octopus. And no bugs. I have a little trouble if I think too much about what a shrimp or a crab or a lobster looks like too, because to me they look like ocean bugs. I do like the taste of all of those ocean bugs though. Of course it goes...

Food you wouldn't put in your mouth.

Well, now I have two votes for Halo-Halo! Come to think of it, most of the ingredients sound fine, although the "yellow paper" description threw me a little. And again, dessert beans are a new concept, but I like beans and coconut and yams, so I am looking forward to trying it. My coworker was...

    Germ I.Q.

9/11 too. I read somewhere recently though that the toilet flush sending all those germs all over was a false statement though, and I believed what I read about it. I'll have to find the article. I mean, think about it for a minute - this would mean that all that 'overspray' is landing all over...

    Perdue Oven Stuffer

My TV cooking hero, Jacques Pepin, always takes those plastic thermometers out of the raw chicken or turkey and throws them away. He said that they're always wrong and that we should all use our meat thermometers. So that's what I always have done. But I really like the Perdue Oven Stuffer...
