    Kameleon Recipe

High ball glasses aren't the tall skinny ones. I thought those were referred to as Tom Collins glasses, but I might be wrong. High ball glasses are short and kind of wide. BC

    ISO help making glazed(?) walnuts

We just returned from our big Mediterranean cruise/20th anniversary celebration, and on the cruise ship the dining room served, every evening, a plate of assorted cheeses & fruit with a few little slices of date bread and some lightly sweetened walnuts. Some people had them as an appetizer...

What is your favorite juice drink?

I absolutely love white grape juice. I also had a limeade/mango juice combo that was delightful recently. BC

    kleenex? Ketchup-flavored chips?

I've had them. They are good. BC

    Jimmy Dean Commercial.

I think the Jimmy Dean commercials are extremely well done, from the little girl's genuine acting to the soft light and quiet sensibility of a very early hour of the morning. Very impressive for such an everyday product. BC

    REC: Guacamole

I make mine with finely diced onion and jalapeno to taste, lime juice and cilantro. Simple and tasty. Actually that's how I make tuna salad now too, but with a bit of mayo added to the onion, jalapeno and lime juice. That is very good as well. BC

How many clocks in one home

We turned our clocks ahead a couple of weeks ago, and I counted something like 23 clocks that I had to manually change - not taking into consideration the ones that set themselves! I always find that incredible. I have a couple of lights on timers, and a programmable coffee pot and thermostat...

    ISO Taquitos Recipe

The only flautas I've had are made with corn tortillas. I've always thought that taquitos are the frozen food section equivalent of a flauta, because I don't see taquitos on the menus of the local restaurants, only at grocery stores. My wonderful local Mexican restaurant makes wonderful...

    Why I Love Red Heads

Bergman wasn't a redhead, but Hepburn certainly was. (Casablanca may be my favorite dramatic movie ever.) I agree about Gable being gorgeous, and Bogart being dark and intriguing, and in his own way, quite charming. I'm all for the swarthy ones, with the exception of Joseph Cotten, who I...

    Dishwasher Recall!

With a glass front you would be able to see the dirty dishes that you put in there before washing. That's almost as bad as seeing a sink full of dirty dishes all the time. BC PS - Turns out I have the MDB-3 model. Thanks for the heads up, Corey!

    The Saturday Six!

Of course, I don't know what happened, but I suppose I do. I'm sorry to hear this. 1. Woke up to a sunny Saturday, with hopes of a bit of a warmer weekend. (Bucky is welcome to any remaining snow - if I never see it again, it will be too soon.) 2. This is the last day of CST. Daylight saving...

    I Love My New Shoes!

I've seen them on people, and have also seen the knockoffs, but they all look so wide! I wear a 5 1/2 AA shoe, so I'll bet they would not work for me, like so many other styles of shoes. BC

Daylight savings time (U.S.) March 11

United States and Canada: Daylight Saving Time Extended Starting 2007 I like DST too. I know some people wish it didn't exist. I have a brother who doesn't feel the need for it. BC

What is your weather like right now?

The wind today in Chicagoland has just been incredible. They've been at 30-40 mph and I can't imagine what the gusts are. The temp right now is in the upper 20s, but with the wind, it's quite raw. We've also had blowing snow all day, but not much accumulation, since hardly any of it touches...

How do you react to the weather?

I have always considered myself a human barometer. I get sinus headaches often when we have a big drop in pressure, and as you said, lots of sleepiness. I've noticed this for years and years. BC

    Freezing butter

I freeze butter all the time. I don't exactly know how long I've left it in the freezer before using it, but I've never had it come out badly. The recommended limit is 6-9 months (National Center for Home Food Preservation). BC

    Grey's Anatomy

My husband's doctor complained that shows like this are far too unrealistic - interns don't have time to be sleeping around like that. They're far too busy working and studying, he told hubby very indignantly. Did I mention that my husband's doctor looks like a turtle? I'm sure he did...

    Grey's Anatomy

I watch Grey's Anatomy too - but all that "Seriously" stuff makes me want to clunk their heads together! I also love House. I heard on the radio that they need to call in House to save Meredith! BC

    Flags @ Half Mast

Seeing this topic made me think of my own town this week, with our flags at half staff as well. I live in the same town as Michellemarie, and it is just reeling from the loss of those 4 kids and the terrible injuries of the others from the accident she mentioned. All of a sudden our little...

    Please Clear The Snow/Ice

I see a lot of snow piled on the top of vehicles, flying off on the highways. Most of the big chunks, however, seem to fly off of semi trucks. I'm not sure how they would be able to clear it off of those high trailers. I have enough trouble with my extendable snow brush on the top of my SUV...

    Nola.com

I've not been to Mardi Gras, but I've been to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I liked both cities very much. This was pre-Katrina, however. I'm so sad to see the pictures of what's become of parts of the city. Jackson Square was such a beautiful area. Bourbon Street was a bit too unkempt for...
