I don't know if people around here are interested in Romanian cuisine, but if you are slightly curious about our kitchen "portfolio" feel free to drop by and ask whatever questions you have. Be blessed y'all.

Welcome to Discuss Cooking.

Please tell us a bit about Romanian cuisine. For example: What are some special dishes that are popular in Romania? Is there a "national dish"? Are there dishes that are similar to a dish in nearby country?

Oh well, I don't know even where to start. Uhmm, Romanian cuisine is very rich in fat, no matter the dishes. Lard, bacon, sunflower oil, butter, sour cream, you name it. Even the salads contain a big amount of sunflower oil in their dressings to highlight the flavor :D There isn't a national dish, there are dozens haha. From "sarmale" (roughly translated as seasoned minced meat in pickled cabbage or wine leaves) to cow's stomach broth or "mititei" (those little sausages like meat rolls) , we have lots of dishes we consider national dishes. As similarities there would be sweet bread ( Romanian version : "cozonac" ) which is spread through the whole Eastern Europe with different names or borscht ( from Ukraine, but it has differences when it comes to souring the soup, Ukrainians use a borsch made out of beets while Romanians one made from wheat bran ), or serbian rice ( romanian version being "pilaf " ) that we prepare on a daily basis and consider it as a national dish.
This is a huge topic. I could go on for pages. We are foodies and it shows on our big fluffy tummies :D
