There's a name for that kind of date, just read it on Farmer's Almanack.
So I'll take the honours and say I've got my upcoming supper in the toaster oven.

It is a failed tortiere which I'm rescuing by turning it into a sort'a shepherd Pie.
Made a gravy of 1/2 chicken, 1/2 beef, left over garlic milk/cream (from the mashers). Topped the meat with frozen peas'n carrots, mashers and into the oven. It's baking away and smells divine.

I know it's early but I'm pretending I'm in Florida having the Snow Bird's Early Bird Special. ;)

It isn't early for PNW Snowbirds! They have to fly before the snow prevents them from getting over the passes around here. Putting snow tires or chains on your RV isn't very practical. And, many like to spend Thanksgiving with their winter friends & family.

Beans and franks.

This is one of the simple little meals that my mother and grandmother would serve in the days leading up to a major holiday. It helped to divert money from the regular grocery budget to the holiday meal. It also made us appreciate the bounty and variety of the holiday meals.

Are you going to tell us what that name is for this kind of date? Oops, I see you told us while I was dawdling over my reply.

And "11-22-11", what is that date supposed to be? The 22nd of November 2011?

I think today is 22-11-22

It was Lufa Farms (produce plus) delivery today. I knew that would arrive at some random time and poop us out. So, last night I prepped all the veggies for a tray bake. There was one giant red onion which was quartered, leek, mushrooms, fartichokes, rutabugger, zucchini, whole small garlic bulbs and one loose garlic clove, celeriac, and carrots. Today, I roasted those with EVOO and a bit of salt for about half an hour, tossing twice. Then I added four Italian sausages and some of my batch vinaigrette and roasted for another 15 minutes. At that point the sausages were all up at least 80°C, so I deemed it done.

We thoroughly enjoyed that. I wasn't overly fond of the red onion or the leek, but the zucchini was surprisingly good. The veggies in general were quite good. Stirling ate about half of his veggies before he even remembered to start on the sausages. There are some leftovers: one sausage and a few veggies and the liquid/sauce left in the pan. I put out some crusty, whole wheat baguette that we used for dipping into that sauce.

That was a lot of running up and down the stairs to make sure nothing burned.
Another time, if I am doing this as an extra easy meal, I will probably do it "en papillote", so I don't have to worry about stuff burning. There was very little Maillard reaction (browning) on the sausage, even without a protective wrapping.

Wound up having White Castle, 1 cheeseburger and 1 fish sandwich. It's a guilty pleasure 1 or 2 times a year. I like that they are small, and the steamed onions are great. The fish doesn't have tartar sauce on it like McD's otherwise they are pretty good.

BTW, I had no clue this was a dinner thread.

LOL, msmofet, too funny I was just looking at that and thinking WOW doesn't even say food, eat, anything!
Bet you guys didn't know you were volunteers in my training, did you! Thank you all, I won the most sticky stars on my report card for this.

Here's the picture of my converted tortiere into what I have named Swineherd Pie. there is Shepherd's Pie with lamb, Cottage Pie with beef, and so this is with Pork. LOL - Unless someone has a better name?

It was positively fantastic. A great boo-boo that I will definitely be making again.
