When we used mayo, we bought Hellmans, or made homemade. Now that we don't use oil, we use a tofu cream.
In a 1 qt jar, 1 14 oz silken tofu, 3 T lemon juice, 2 cloves of garlic, blend with an immersion blender, salt optional.

As I said in an earlier post to this thread, Hellmann's all the way.
I have wanted to try Kewpie and Duke's because they come so highly recommended. I read recently that Costco now sells Kewpie. We happened to be there today and I picked up a jar of Kewpie to try out. Just under $6 for a 24 ounce squeeze bottle. I made a sandwich with it. It has a sweet taste that reminds me of the "other" mayonnaise/salad dressings from the days when I was a lot younger (Kraft, Cain's and Miracle Whip). I don't care for it. Won't buy it again.
We hope to travel to NC in late Fall. I'll look for a jar of Duke's then.

I was always loyal to Hellmann’s until the latest round of price increases came in at around $5.99/30 ounce bottle.
Now I only buy it when I see it on special at $3.99.
I use Aldi’s Burman’s or Wegman’s private label with good results.
It’s not difficult to make but with today’s prices for oil and eggs it’s not the value that it used to be.

We buy the giant economy size bottle of Hellmann's at Costco. It's a LOT cheaper than supermarket prices.

Best Foods, but I guess it is the Southwest version of Hellman's?

When we went to the restaurant Chef and the Farmer several years ago, we got a delicious sausage appetizer. It was drizzled with a tasty, tangy sauce that turned out to be simply Duke's mayonnaise. I love it.
Where are you planning to go in NC?

If we decide to go, our destination is Hickory. We have health issues that may get in the way.
It's actually the same company, since 1927. Doesn't it say on the US jars that it's called Hellmann's east of the Rocky Mountains and Best Foods West of the Rockies? In Canada, I'm pretty sure we only get Hellmann's, both east and west of the Rockies.

I buy "Best Foods" and it states, "known as Hellman's east of the Rockies".

It has been the same company but like many other companies they have changed their recipe over the years.
Years ago Hellmann’s had 100 calories per tablespoon and then at some point they ‘improved’ the recipe by adding additional water and the calorie count dropped to 90 calories per tablespoon.

I have always been a Hellman's devotee. In fact, never considered Duke's. I went to a diner that had the BEST egg salad. It was amazing. I wheedled the recipe from the owner. She said the secret was Duke's mayonnaise. Obviously, I was shocked....but bought a small jar.....and now am a two mayo family as the Duke's made the egg salad I had been striving to make for years. No idea why.....
