The "what are you listening to now" thread

I vaguely remember this song. I was like 12 when it came out. I loved Mike + The Mechanics. I didn't know this was their song. I just stumbled across this last month. Great song, great video of a simpler time. I love the kids messing with the instruments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8toBVYDKukU

I will never buy store made macaroni salad again

I imagine most of this slop they call macaroni/potato salad sold at supermarkets is all made at 2 or 3 places in huge one-story vats. Loaded up on the HFCS and vinegar to preserve that nasty crap, then poured into containers where it's sold wholesale to delis and supermarket delis to be scooped...

I will never buy store made macaroni salad again

We forgot to get macaroni salad last week from the store, and GF loves it with her BBQ dogs/burgers. So I decided to make some which I never made before. I never looked up any recipes, but I knew it has hard-boiled egg, mayo, celery, onions, pepper, salt, paprika, etc.. I've been eating the...

    Off Topic? Computers

I wouldn't fart around with old copies of Windows. I'd just install Linux Mint. It's light weight compared to Windows, plus it's safe and secure.

Ever feel this way after cooking a great meal?

I bet he was. :) I was kinda shocked the first time I saw my wife slather ketchup on her steak, but I still loved her (RIP honey). I definitely don't agree with her idea of how to eat steak though. lol I grew up in Texas and California, so I have had some great steak.

Ever feel this way after cooking a great meal?

It's a great movie -- Big Night. It came out in 1997 I think. It's actually free to watch on Tubi.com (website or app). My wife and I just watched it the other night. I saw it at the theatre when it first came out. It stars the great Tony Shalhoub, Minnie Driver, and Stanley Tucci. It will...

Ever feel this way after cooking a great meal?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLWy9Wp_RWY Like when I buy free-range beef from a local meat monger, then my wife wants it well-done with a side of ketchup. :)

Wednesday, May 27, 2020, what's on your table?

I made a simple Swedish style beef macaroni casserole last night. I cooked a pound of hamburger with 2 chopped medium onions and some fresh garlic. Then I drained it and added it to a large pyrex casserole dish along with some cooked egg noodles. Then I added like a 1/4 cup pasta sauce and...

If you had a restaurant/cafe, what would be on your menu?

Yummy. A bakery would be a great base, and perhaps add a couple of cauldrons of soup. All you can eat soup and bread. Also, perhaps a salad bar (even one on smaller side) might be a nice addition with some deli cold cuts (premium salami, turkey, chicken, capicola), etc.. Then the customer can...

If you had a restaurant/cafe, what would be on your menu?

Mmmm, great idea. Yeah falafels, Greek salad, maybe a Chinese stir fry, etc. would make a great addition to a menu.

If you had a restaurant/cafe, what would be on your menu?

Wow that sucks. But good thing you didn't lose a lot of $$$$$. Mmmmm, yeah a steak house would be cool. The classic steak house with a simple name like "Joe's Steakhouse" or something with the sign saying "steaks, chops, cocktails" in sorta an art deco font. You walk in and there's lots of...

If you had a restaurant/cafe, what would be on your menu?

We prefer local family-owned restaurants, and there are 3 that we love around here. One of them has been in the same family since the 1940s. Anyway, the better places tend to have a more concise menu instead of 20 pages of items that end up running up food costs and lowering quality and speed...
