What did you eat Wednesday, April 24, 2024?

Grilled cheese panini and a bowl of soup. I say "panini" because I made it with a hard roll cooked on my panini press, instead of the traditional sliced white bread. CD

    What Are Your Other Interests?

I'm a semi-retired professional photographer (and art director), and when professional digital cameras replaced film cameras, I was so happy. No Polaroid backs, no waiting for "chromes" to come back... I could see exactly what I shot instantly, and make adjustments on the spot. Now, digital...

What's for dinner, Ruby Tuesday April 23, 2024?

Last week, like every time I stay with my sister for a week in Houston, I gained five pounds. Too much eating out. When I got home, I had some kind of GI bug, and didn't eat anything for one whole day, and have been drinking meal replacement drinks and eating soups and sandwiches in small...

Should I replace my chipped roasting pan lid?

Oh, I thought you were saying that it works better for broiling. I do still have the broiler that came with the oven, and it will go with the house if/when I sell it. I can see how it would be easy to chip, and how the flexibility of the steel would facilitate some flaking. CD

    What Are Your Other Interests?

My ex-wife loved that kind of stuff, but she collected all kinds of stuff. We had a house full of antique "knick-knacks." that all went with her... I kept the antique furniture. :ROFLMAO: CD

Should I replace my chipped roasting pan lid?

I don't use my cast iron for broiling (on the rare occasion that I broil anything). I have hotel sheet pans from the restaurant supply store for that. CD

    What Are Your Other Interests?

I have owned four boats, two of them sailboats. Oh, and a SeaDoo. I miss them. I really want to get another SeaDoo, because it is so easy to tow to the lake on a whim, and spend a few hours speeding around on the water. I used to tow it to work from time-to-time, and take off early on a weekday...

Just curious, what do you do with your okra. I use okra in gumbo, and love it cut, breaded and deep fried. Both of those are Southern staples. That's about the only way I like it. CD

Should I replace my chipped roasting pan lid?

Ah, my broiler pan from my oven is like that. I've never used it (in 23 years). I also have seen the blue version in camping gear in stores. My experience using my broiler is, "Almost there, almost there, almost their... burnt." CD

Anyone can start a thread. Pictonguy suggested a new thread, I suggest he starts it. CD

Char-Griller Deluxe says not to exceed 400F?

I can't imagine a grill that can't handle more than 400F. My Webers go over 400F regularly when I first get them started. Both gas and charcoal grills, but especially charcoal. I bought the oldest charcoal Kettle in 1995, and the gasser is a 2001 model. The flavorer bars in my gasser, which are...

    The Sick Room

I have mild peripheral neuropathy in my feet, due to other reasons. It is really only noticeable in bed at night. Walking around, I don't really notice it. I do get foot cramps from it, but can easily just curl my toes up and it goes away quickly. I take a B-Complex vitamin, and a separate...

Should I replace my chipped roasting pan lid?

I had never even heard of Granite Ware. It sounds rather fragile. CD

Should I replace my chipped roasting pan lid?

I don't know anything about Granite Ware, but my Le Creuset porcelain enameled cast iron has chips in it around the lips, and I don't worry about it. If there are sharp edges you could cut your finger on when washing it, you might want to use a little sandpaper to smooth them out, but I...
