Another old preventative measure is to put a mechanics lead cord with a 100 watt lightbulb under the sink. The old style lightbulbs generate enough heat to keep things from freezing.

We used to do the same thing with the cars during periods of subzero weather. The lead cord and bulb were put under the hood of the car to keep things warm.

I remember my mother taking off one cold
dark morning without removing the cord, and then the fight started! ?
Easy bake ovens used a 100 watt bulb.

don't think you even need a 100 watt for under the sink. For the car, probably, but a 60 watt, and depending on size of "under the sink" maybe even a 40 watt would be enough.

Of course, all this depends on whether or not you can even find those type of bulbs any more... LED anyone?

They won't be as easy to find as LEDs, but they are definitely available. They have them at Canadian Tire: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/cat/home-pets/lighting/light-bulbs/incandescent-bulbs-DC0001113.html

There must be places in the US to get them too.

I bought GE 25W decorative bulbs (2 pack) at Walmart for under $5. They run hot & bright and recommend 3 hour use per day. They are clear bulbs.

It sure sounds like you plant your garden things to have things ready for Christmas. Ours will be under a foot or so of snow. You could start the 2023 Christmas/New Years Menu thread.
