    Lamb Stew recipe?

I like either product but like lamb to taste like lamb. This is the recipe I've used but do it in a dutch oven. 1 1⁄2 lbs boneless lean lamb stew meat, cut in 1 inch cubes 1 teaspoon salt, divided 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper 1⁄4 cup all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons vegetable oil (I use olive) 1⁄2...

This recipe I got from Mr. L at another forum, have made it, and it is the best I've had. 4 eggs 2 cups of milk 1 cup of sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 stick of melted butter 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 cup of raisins about 4 or 5 cups of old bread cubed in chunks - I use stale French bread. 1/2 cup...

    Best way to freeze rhubarb?

I make Victoria Sauce with rhubarb, a recipe from the Blue Ball Canning Book. It goes great with roast beef and pork and my neighbor even puts it on ice-cream. Puyallup, WA is the world's largest supplier of commercial rhubarb and see they are in the middle of the harvest right now. It's the...

What have you had for breakfast lately?

I just finished off the last of the creamed egg on an English muffin, added the Aleppo pepper, and it was excellent. Thanks for the heads up. I may need a ranitidine, though. :ermm:

    Crazy for cast iron!

I catch a fair amount of ling cod and halibut which does not smell bad when frying. My wife would agree about the the rock fish. I like them but she doesn't, even after soaking in milk for 4 hours. Lately I've been frying salmon but use an All Clad non stick for it. As far as acid foods go...

    Crazy for cast iron!

I have more than a few pieces and have been cooking with a Griswold since I was a kid, 60+ years. I use Joy with no worries. Frying fish with canola or peanut oil does a great job freshening up a skillet.

What have you had for breakfast lately?

I'll have to look on Amazon next time. World Spice Market in Seattle gets US$5.00 an ounce. We have lots of Asian markets close by and will get some Szechuan pepper. We use a lot of white pepper, too, which has a bite.

What have you had for breakfast lately?

Add about four table spoons of butter, too, about the same measure as the flour. I'm liking Aleppo pepper now and believe it's coming from Turkey.

    What are you doing?

There are still about a 1000 dusky geese hanging around and would think they'd head to Alaska soon. They nest on the Copper River delta. After the 64 earthquake it raised the level of their nesting grounds and ever since they couldn't next there anymore, consequently their numbers have...

What have you had for breakfast lately?

Creamed eggs are easy to make, just shred about a half dozen hard boiled eggs then make a milk and flour slurry and add to the eggs as if you were making a gravy. We do this every year for Easter breakfast but have so many eggs this year had it again today. I add lots of freshly ground black...

Poll: Pickle Relish ~ Dill, or Sweet?

My mrs chops up green olives to add to the tuna salad which gives it a unique flavour. Our albacore tuna is regionally canned from tuna caught off the coast of Washington and the taste is much better than the big name products. I've been getting the packets of tuna processed with sweet relish...

I'm from Iowa and back in the 60's my mother made a casserole that was very similar. I've got no clue where she found the recipe but I do have her recipe box and will take a look.

I do something similar, in a grilling basket, over the coals. Sometimes I'll wrap a few spears with bacon and carefully grill trying to keep the bacon intact. I add the basaltic vinegar at the table.

I did that last night as it was all the mrs wanted. I eat mine with brown sauce. It's not really grilled but is called that. It's a fried cheese sandwich. BTW, I don't care for the mayo method and use butter.
