Do you take the skin off bratwurst before cooking?

I never remove casings from sausage. When I make my own sausage I always use natural casings - aka intestines.

    Rotisserie Chicken thoughts?

I liked Boston Chicken. After they expanded to include other foods and changed they name is when they started to decline. Eventually they were bought by McDonald's, and it got worse. They have since been sold to a VC company, and filed bankruptcy 3 times. They should have stuck with chicken.

    What about 'monosodium glutimate'?

MSG is a naturally occurring salt in most foods. As a seasoning, it is a flavor enhancer, increasing the taste of umami. Some years ago, some people started insisting that it was evil, and responsible for the headaches they felt after eating Chinese food. Just like every other fad, folks...

How do they put photos on cakes?

You need special edible paper and edible ink. I suppose you could do it on your home printer, but it wouldn't be very sanitary. Places that print edible pictures have dedicated printers just for food.

    What happened to Starbucks???

The lingo doesn't bother me, but I do think it sounds a bit affected. I just don't like their coffee. I think it tastes burnt. I grind & brew 1 pot in the morning, and I have 2 cups of Eight O'clock. The rare time that I order coffee out, I choose Dunkin. Their's is good.

    Anniversary dinner ideas?

Hot about a pork tenderloin? You can dress it up with some cippolini onions in balsamic. It's inexpensive, simple, and kind of "dressy". I can post a simple recipe if you want.

Best brand of bottled orange juice

I get Indian River Select - Valencia. I'm not sure if you can get it outside of Florida. I live near Tropicana. It sure STINKS when you drive by. But they do import much of their juice from other countries.

Just Curious... How do you watch your Cooking youtube videos?

I don't watch them - ever. In my opinion, they are usually a bunch of folks who don't want to get real jobs, trying to make a living off the internet. Most times, these wanna-be 'influencers' don't have any real cooking skills or training. Just looking for a way to make an easy buck on ad...

    Are my shrimp ok

If they are kept frozen, they won't actually spoil. But the quality will deteriorate. "Freezer Burn" doesn't make something unsafe, it dries out the flesh and messes up the texture. So while they won't harm you, the shrimp may seem dry and/or tough. Vacuum packaging or other airtight method...

    Liver and onions anyone?

I LOVE calf's liver. Although I don't usually cook it with onions. I prefer a fruity gastrique, especially cherries and almonds.

    The Sick Room

I just had my second eye done last week (the first one was 3 weeks earlier). At the surgery center, 2 different people each made a mark with magic marker over the correct eye (both the nurse and the surgeon). It was extremely difficult to wash off later, especially since I couldn't get water...

    What Are Your Other Interests?

I study wine. I used to knit, sew, crochet, needlepoint, etc. My fingers no longer work like they once did. Years ago, I took piano and organ lessons. Now that I'm retired, I hope to take up the keyboards again. I used to play golf, but its been many years....

    What's To Eat? ~ 4/14/2024

Shrimp grilled witth a pinapple habenero baste. Glazed carrots and grilled asparagus. The shrimp were HUGE - U8's. I cooked 14 of them, since they were getting icy in the freezer, but we each ate only 2. Lots of leftovers for lunches thos week.
